Flims, Switzerland
Flims ( rm, Flem) is a municipality in the Imboden Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The town of Flims is dominated by the Flimserstein which one can see from almost anywhere in the area. Flims consists of the village of Flims (called Flims Dorf) and the hamlets of Fidaz and Scheia as well as Flims-Waldhaus, the initial birthplace of tourism in Flims, where most of the hotels were built before and after around 1900. Alison Kotylak
Alison Teresa Thiessen (born October 19, 1992 in Edmonton, Alberta as Alison Kotylak) is a Canadian curler. Career Juniors Thiessen was invited to play as Team Canada's (skipped by Kelsey Rocque) alternate at the 2014 World Junior Curling Championships, however she did not play in any games. Thiessen played for the University of Alberta curling team from 2011 to 2015. She was the second on the team from 2011 to 2012, the alternate from 2013 to 2014 and was lead in 2015. Her skip in 2011 and 2012 was Kelly Erickson and from 2013 to 2015 was Rocque. At the 2011 CIS/CCA Curling Championships and the 2012 CIS/CCA Curling Championships the team would lose in tiebreakers. Kyle Kurz (born April 10, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He currently plays second on Team Braden Calvert. Career Kurz won his first provincial junior title in 2014 as third for the Braden Calvert rink. The team, also including front end Lucas Van Den Bosch and Brendan Wilson represented Manitoba at the 2014 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. There, the team lost just one game, en route to their first national junior title. In the final, they defeated New Brunswick's Rene Comeau to earn the right to represent Canada at the 2014 World Junior Curling Championships. At the Worlds, they had less success, finishing the round robin with a 6–3 record. This put the team into the playoffs, but they lost to Switzerland in the 3 vs. 4 game, and then lost to Norway in the bronze medal game, settling for fourth place. He is a former World Junior curling champion and two-time Canadian junior champion. World Curling Federation
The World Curling Federation (WCF) is the world governing body for curling accreditation, with offices in Perth, Scotland. It was formed out of the International Curling Federation (ICF), when the push for Olympic Winter Sport status was made. The name was changed in 1990. The ICF was initially formed in 1966 as a committee of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in Perth after the success of the Scotch Cup series of world championships held between Canada and Scotland. World Junior Curling Championships
The World Junior Curling Championships are an annual curling bonspiel featuring the world's best curlers who are 21 years old or younger. The competitions for both men and women occur at the same venue. The men's tournament has occurred since 1975 and the women's since 1988. Since curling became an Olympic sport in 1998, the World Junior Curling Championship of the year preceding the Olympic Games have been held at the site of the curling tournament for the upcoming Games. The event has its origins in the International Junior Masters Bonspiel which began in 1968 and was held annually at the East York Curling Club. By 1973, the tournament began being called the International Junior Curling Championship and the World Junior Curling Championship in 1974, before being officially sanctioned in 1975.
