2014 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The 2014 Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the thirteenth edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, played by twelve countries over June, 2014 in Mexico City, Mexico. The Dominican Republic defeated 3–1 to the United States to win their third competition's gold medal. Among the NORCECA, the USA team was already qualified to the FIVB World Grand Prix as wild cards, while the Dominican Republic qualified to the 2015 group I, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Canada to the group II and Mexico will play the 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix group III. Brazil as wild card was already qualified to the group I while Argentina qualified to the group II and Colombia will play the group III. Brenda Castillo
Brenda Castillo (born June 5, 1992, in San Cristóbal) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic and plays as a libero. She was a member of the Dominican Republic national team that won fifth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics, while she was named the tournament's Best Libero. She played in the 2014 World Championship reaching also the fifth place and ranking 17th in the 2010 World Championship and the 2011 FIVB World Cup where her national team ranked eight and the 2015 FIVB World Cup, winning the Best Libero individual award and ranking in seventh place. Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a Continental Cup organized by NORCECA with teams from all over America ( North-, South- and Central America, and the Caribbean), that served as a qualifier for the World Grand Prix. The tournament also granted places for the Final Four Women's Volleyball Cup. Now, the event serves as an America qualifier for the Pan American Games classification. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. FIVB World Grand Prix
The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was an annual women's volleyball competition created in 1993. The men's version of the competition was called World League. This event should not be confused with the other international volleyball competitions, the World Championship, the World Cup and the World Grand Champions Cup. From 2018, the World Grand Prix was replaced by the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League and Challenger Cup. 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix
The 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was the 23rd edition of the annual women's international volleyball tournament played by 28 countries from 26 June to 2 August 2015. This was the first time that the Group 1 final round was held in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. María Alejandra Marín Verhelst (born 4 November 1995) is a Colombian volleyball player. She is part of the Colombia women's national volleyball team. Career With Bolivar, she won the 2010 Colombian Youth National Championship and the 2010 Colombian Junior Championship. She claimed the fifth place in the 2010 Youth South American Championship held in Peru. Cándida Estefany Arias Pérez (born March 11, 1992 in Yaguate, San Cristóbal) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who won the bronze medal with her native country at the 2008 NORCECA Girls' U18 Volleyball Continental Championship in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico wearing the number 15 jersey. Career She debuted with her senior national team in June 2009, at the 2010 World Championship NORCECA Qualification Pool H, at Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, helping her team to qualify to the world event. TeTori "Tori" Elsie Dixon (born August 4, 1992) is an American indoor volleyball player, and was part of the United States national team that won the 2014 World Championship gold medal. Career College She played college volleyball for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers women's volleyball team. Dixon was Selected AVCA All-America First-Team a unanimous All-Big Ten. She finished her career ranked fifth all time in total blocks (507), the best ever career hitting percentage (.369) and ninth all-time in career kills (1,479).
