2014 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2014 West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament was held March 6–11, 2014 at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada. This was the sixth consecutive year the WCC Tournament took place in Las Vegas Valley, Vegas after the WCC and the Orleans reached a 3-year extension to keep the tournament in Vegas through 2016. Format With the addition of the Pacific Tigers men's basketball, University of the Pacific, the WCC went to a more traditional tournament format. Under the new format, the top 6 seeds earned a bye out of the first round while the 7 seed plays the 10 seed and the 8 seed plays the 9 seed. The first round, which began on a Thursday, aired on BYUtv. The 8 teams that advanced to the second round had a bye on Friday while the women's second round was completed. The men's second round became the quarterfinal round. It took place on Saturday and had the 1 seed playing the winner of the 8/9 game and the 2 seed playing the winner of the 7/10 game. Orleans Arena
Orleans Arena is a 9,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Paradise, Nevada, in the Las Vegas Valley. It is located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino and is operated by Coast Casinos, a subsidiary of Boyd Gaming Corporation. The arena is the home to the Vegas Rollers of World TeamTennis since 2019. It is also an occasional home for the UNLV Rebels basketball team when the Thomas & Mack Center is in use. The arena was the home of the Las Vegas Wranglers ice hockey team from 2003 to 2014, the Las Vegas Gladiators arena football team in 2007, as well as the Las Vegas Sin women's football team. In 2020, the Vegas Golden Knights announced it was purchasing and relocating an American Hockey League (AHL) franchise. 2013–14 Saint Mary's Gaels Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Saint Mary's Gaels men's basketball team represented Saint Mary's College of California during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Randy Bennett's thirteenth season at Saint Mary's. The Gaels competed in the West Coast Conference and played their home games at the McKeon Pavilion. They finished the season 23–12, 11–7 in WCC play to finish in fourth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the WCC tournament where they lost to Gonzaga. They were invited to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Utah in the first round before losing in the second round to Minnesota. Cole Dickerson (born October 19, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for Egis Körmend of the Hungarian League. Anthony Ireland (born September 25, 1991) is an American professional basketball player who most recently played for HydroTruck Radom of the PLK. A native of Waterbury, Connecticut, Ireland notably played collegiate basketball at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA from 2010 to 2014 before embarking a professional career spanning across Europe. Gabe Louis Levin (גייב לוין; born August 2, 1994) is an American-Israeli professional basketball player who last played for the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Loyola Marymount Lions and the Long Beach State Beach. Early and personal life Levin was born in Chicago, Illinois, grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, and is Jewish. The 2013–14 Loyola Marymount Lions men's basketball team represented Loyola Marymount University during the 2013–14 college basketball season. This Lions were coached by sixth year head coach Max Good. The Lions competed in the West Coast Conference and played their home games at Gersten Pavilion. 2013–14 Pacific Tigers Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Pacific Tigers men's basketball team represented the University of the Pacific during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They play their home games at the Alex G. Spanos Center. This was season of new beginnings for the Tigers. Gone after 25 seasons was long-time head coach Bob Thomason. The new head coach of the Tigers was former assistant Ron Verlin. Verlin arrived with much experience. Verlin had been the associate head coach for the Tigers for 19 seasons under Thomason. Verlin becomes the 20th head coach in the history of Tiger basketball.
