2014 Volvo World Match Play Championship
The 2014 Volvo World Match Play Championship was the 49th Volvo World Match Play Championship to be played. It was held 15–19 October, with the champion receiving €650,000. The format was 16 players split into four pools of four, with the top two in each pool progressing to the knock-out stage. It is an official money event on the European Tour. Format The 16 players are split into four pools of four, seeded by their Official World Golf Ranking. Within each pool, every player plays each other in a round-robin format over 18-hole matches. Points are awarded based upon win (2), tie (1) or loss (0). The two leading players from each pool advance to the knock-out stage. In the case of a tie in the standings, head-to-head results determine places with sudden-death playoffs used to determine standings if head-to-head match halved. Francesco Molinari
Francesco Molinari (born 8 November 1982) is an Italian professional golfer. He won the 2018 Open Championship, his first and only major victory, and the first major won by an Italian professional golfer. The Open Championship win capped a successful season in which he won the 2018 BMW PGA Championship, his fifth win on the European Tour, and the Quicken Loans National, his first PGA Tour win. Erik Gustaf Larson (8 July 1887 – 4 July 1968) was a Swedish automotive engineer and the co-founder of Volvo. He held a Master of Science (M. Sc.) degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Assar Thorvald Nathanael Gabrielsson (13 August 1891 – 28 May 1962) was a Swedish industrialist and co-founder of Volvo. Early life Gabrielsson was born on 13 August 1891 in Korsberga, Skaraborg County, Sweden, the son of Gabriel Nathanael Gabrielsson and Anna Helmina Larsson, who married on 14 April 1889. Mark Hume McCormack (November 6, 1930 – May 16, 2003) was an American lawyer, sports agent and writer. He was the founder and chairman of International Management Group, now IMG, an international management organization serving sports figures and celebrities. George Coetzee
George William Coetzee (born 18 July 1986) is a South African professional golfer. He has won five tournaments on the European Tour and 13 on the Sunshine Tour, where he has also topped the Order of Merit on two occasions. Alexander Lévy (; born 1 August 1990) is a French professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Lévy won the French Amateur Championship in 2009, and the French International Amateur Championship the next year. Pablo Larrazábal Corominas (born 15 May 1983) is a Spanish professional golfer currently playing on the European Tour. He also played in the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series event at the Centurion Club. Early life Larrazábal was born in Barcelona, Spain.
