2014 United Football League (Philippines)
The 2014 United Football League was the fifth season of the UFL since its establishment as a semi-professional league in 2009. The UFL League kicked off on Saturday, January 11 with 9 teams in Division I and 12 teams in Division II. Stallion was the defending champion, having won the Division 1 of the 2013 United Football League season. Global outclassed Pachanga Diliman 7-2 on 12 June 2014 to win the 2014 United Football League title with three games to spare. Teams The relegated Philippine Air Force from 2013 UFL Division 1 was replaced by Team Socceroo as the champion of 2013 UFL Division 2. The Manila Nomads voluntarily stepped down from Division I and played in Division II for this season citing its inability to comply with Division I's Foreigner Cap rule, which dictates that there should be a minimum of six Filipino players on the pitch at all times. The United Football League, commonly known as the UFL, was an association football league, replaced by the Philippines Football League, based in the National Capital Region of the Philippines, governed by the Football Alliance (FA) in partnership with United Football Clubs Association (UFCA). The UFL was the Philippines' primary football league. In its last season in 2016, it was contested by 12 clubs and operated without a system of promotion and relegation with UFL Division 2, which was discontinued. Games were often scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Patrick Phillip Bravo Deyto (born February 15, 1990) is a Filipino professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Philippines Football League club Stallion Laguna and the Philippines national team. Early life and education Deyto took up football when he was in first grade and decided to play in the goalkeeping position but experimented playing in the midfield and forward positions. Noel Surigao Marcaida (born December 14, 1980) is a Filipino football coach and former player. He is currently the technical director of Loyola. Marcaida was a goalkeeper of the Philippines national team in the 1999 Southeast Asian Games and the 2000 Olympic Qualifiers. As a head coach, he led Pachanga Diliman to the final of the 2013 UFL Cup. He then coached Kaya–Iloilo from 2017 to 2019, where they won the Copa Paulino Alcantara and achieved two second-place finishes in the league.
