2014 UMass Minutemen Football Team
The 2014 UMass Minutemen football team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. This was their first year with head coach Mark Whipple, who returned after 10 years coaching in the NFL. The Minutemen divided their home schedule between two stadiums. Three home games were played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The other three were played on the UMass campus at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium, which reopened after a renovation to bring the facility up to FBS standards. This season was UMass's third in the Mid-American Conference in the East Division. They finished the season 3–9, 3–5 in MAC play to finish in a tie for fourth place in the East Division. Mark Whipple
Mark John Whipple (born April 1, 1957) is an American football coach, who most recently served as offensive coordinator at Nebraska in 2022. Whipple was the head football coach at University of New Haven from 1988 to 1993, Brown University from 1994 to 1997, and stints as the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), from 1998 to 2003 and 2014 to 2018. His 1998 UMass team won the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship. He was the quarterbacks coach for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) in 2011 and 2012. Before joining the Browns in January 2011, Whipple worked for two seasons as the offensive coordinator at the University of Miami. He previously coached in the NFL, working as a quarterback coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004 to 2006 and as an offensive assistant coach with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007 and 2008. Glass Bowl
The Glass Bowl is a stadium in Toledo, Ohio. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the American football team of the University of Toledo Rockets. It is located on the school's Bancroft campus, just south of the banks of the Ottawa River. Known for its blend of old and new, it retains the traditional stonework around the field throughout all its expansions. The 2014 Toledo Rockets football team represented the University of Toledo in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by head coach Matt Campbell in his third full year after coaching the Rockets in the 2011 Military Bowl. They played their home games at the Glass Bowl and were members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 9–4, 7–1 in MAC play to finish in a tie for the West Division title with Northern Illinois. 2014 Eastern Michigan Eagles Football Team
The 2014 Eastern Michigan Eagles football team represented Eastern Michigan University in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Eagles, led by first year head coach Chris Creighton, played their home games at Rynearson Stadium and were members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 2–10, 1–7 in MAC play to finish in last place in the West Division. This season saw Eastern Michigan play on a new gray FieldTurf surface at Rynearson Stadium. The facility was only the second in FBS with a non-traditional field color, after Albertsons Stadium at Boise State, and only the sixth such facility in all of college football. Kent, Ohio
Kent is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the largest city in Portage County. It is located along the Cuyahoga River in Northeast Ohio on the western edge of the county. Dix Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kent, Ohio, United States. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Kent State Golden Flashes football team. In addition, since 2016 the stadium is also home to the Kent State women's soccer team and since 2019 to the women's lacrosse team. The 2014 Kent State Golden Flashes football team represented Kent State University in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by second-year head coach Paul Haynes and played their home games at Dix Stadium as a member of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. Yager Stadium (Miami University)
Fred C. Yager Stadium is a football stadium in Oxford, Ohio, United States. It is home to the Miami University RedHawks football team. It has a capacity of 24,286 spectators, and was built in 1983. It replaced Miami Field, which had been used since 1895 (the stands had been built in 1916) and was the home field for many of the coaches who had made the school famous.
