2014 Sunshine Ladies Tour
The 2014 Sunshine Ladies Tour was the inaugural season of the Sunshine Ladies Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women based in South Africa. The season featured six 36-holes stroke play tournaments with no cut, each with a purse of R100,000. The leading players on the Order of Merit competed for Investec Cup for Ladies in March, with a purse of R300,000. Ashleigh Ann Buhai (née Simon, born 11 May 1989) is a South African professional golfer, who won the 2022 Women's Open, one of the major championships in women's golf. Amateur career Buhai had a successful amateur career. She was the youngest player to win the ladies’ South African Amateur Stroke Play and Match Play double. She represented her country in the mainly professional Women's World Cup of Golf three times while still an amateur. Professional career Buhai turned professional the day after her 18th birthday. Tandi McCallum (born 17 April 1986) is a South African professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She was runner-up at the 2010 Women's Indian Open and the 2012 Lalla Meryem Cup. Career McCallum started playing golf at age 15 and won six national amateur tournaments. She turned professional in 2008 and joined the LET in 2009. She secured her first professional win at the 2009 South African Women's Open but not a LET-sanctioned event at the time, she had to go back to Q-School at the end of her rookie year to keep her LET card. Monique Smit (born 26 February 1991) is a South African professional golfer playing on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She was runner-up at the 2020 South African Women's Open and won the 2020 Sunshine Ladies Tour Order of Merit. Amateur career Smit had a championship-winning amateur career including four titles on the 2005 Ernie Els Junior Tour and was a two-time Gus Ackermann Champion, in 2010 and 2011. The Glendower Golf Club is an 18-hole golf complex located in Edenvale, Gauteng, South Africa. The course has been the home of the South African Open for eight competitions. Englishman Chris Paisley won his first European Tour title winning the 2018 SA Open. Englishman Graeme Storm won the 2017 SA Open beating Rory McIlroy in a play-off while South African golfer Brandon Stone won the 2016 SA Open. History In 1935, ten businessmen formed a company with an idea to create a country club and purchased the farm Glendower which in those days was on the edge to the town of Edenvale. Dimension Data Ladies Challenge
The Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am is a women's professional golf tournament held in Western Cape, South Africa. It is an event on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Ladies Tour since 2014, played concurrently with the men's Dimension Data Pro-Am on the Sunshine Tour. The professional golfers are teamed with an amateur and together they compete for the Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am trophy. They compete using the Better Ball Medal scoring system with the amateur handicaps taken into account. Except for 2015 when the event was hosted at Oubaai Golf Resort & Spa, the tournament has been played over three days on two different golf courses, the first two rounds at George Golf Club, with the third and final round at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club.
