2014 Rallye Deutschland
The 2014 ADAC Rallye Deutschland was the ninth round of the 2014 World Rally Championship season. The event was based in Trier, Germany, and started on 22 August and finished on 24 August after eighteen special stages, totaling 324.3 competitive kilometres. Hyundai driver Thierry Neuville earned his first ever World Rally Championship victory of his career. It was also the first rally of the season not to be won by either the Volkswagen of Sébastien Ogier or Jari-Matti Latvala as they had both crashed out during the event. It was the first non-VW victory since the previous year's German Rally won by Citroën's Dani Sordo, ending VW's streak of twelve consecutive WRC rally victories dating back to the 2013 Rally Australia. Thierry Neuville
Thierry Jean Neuville (born 16 June 1988) is a Belgian rally driver who is competing in the World Rally Championship for Hyundai Motorsport. During his career, he has finished as runner-up in the drivers' championship five times (2013, 2016–2019). He helped Hyundai win their first manufacturers' title in 2019, as well as repeating the feat in 2020. His current co-driver is compatriot Martijn Wydaeghe. Born in St. Vith, Neuville started rallying in 2007. Between 2009 and 2011 he competed in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, in 2009 he also made his World Rally Championship debut at the Rally Catalunya and in 2010 he competed in the Junior World Rally Championship. The 2005 Rally Australia was the 16th round of the 2005 World Rally Championship. It took place between 10 and 13 November 2005. Citroën's François Duval won the race, his 1st win in the World Rally Championship. This was the first time a Belgian driver had won a WRC event. The rally was the final appearance of the Peugeot, Mitsubishi and Škoda factory teams in the WRC. Bernardo Sousa (rally Driver)
Tomas Bernardo Rodrigues Sousa (born May 16, 1987) is a Portuguese rally driver. Born in Madeira, Portugal, and having previously competed in karting, Sousa began his rally career in 2006, competing in the Portuguese national championship. In 2008 he began competing in the Production World Rally Championship (P-WRC), a class of the World Rally Championship. He finished second in class on the 2008 Acropolis Rally, finishing the season ninth in the P-WRC standings. In 2009 he switched from a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX to an Abarth Grande Punto, finishing the season in tenth. DMACK, the parent company of DMACK Holdings Ltd., is a Rovereto, Italy, based tyre manufacturer which started as a company based in Carlisle, United Kingdom. History DMACK was founded in 2008 by Dick Cormack to deliver smaller tyre sizes than the ones supplied by industry giants, such as Michelin and Goodyear, specifically for the rally market. Proposed UK factory DMACK worked with Lehman Lee & Xu, the British government, and local authorities in its plans to build a tyre factory near Carlisle, England. The facility was scheduled to be complete by the end of 2017. It was speculated that it could bring up to 500 jobs when production is up to full scale. Jipocar Czech National Team is a Czech motor racing team, which runs the WRC campaign of Martin Prokop. The team debuted in 2010 and will appear as fully eligible to score WRC manufacturer points team from 2013 Rally Sweden. The origins of the team can be traced back to the years when Prokop was racing in the support WRC series – Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC) and Production World Rally Championship (PWRC). The team appeared as Czech Ford National Team in 2010. The team and Prokop raced in SWRC with Ford Fiesta S2000. The Hyundai i20 WRC is a World Rally Car built by Hyundai for use from the 2014 World Rally Championship. It is based on the Hyundai i20 subcompact car, and was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The Ford Fiesta RS WRC is the World Rally Car built for the Ford World Rally Team by Ford Europe and M-Sport for use in the World Rally Championship 2011–2016. It is based upon the Ford Fiesta road car, and replaced the Ford Focus RS WRC, which competed in various versions since 1999. It is also built to the new World Rally Car regulations for 2011, which are based upon the existing Super 2000 regulations, but is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine (1.6 L turbo Ford EcoBoost engine) rather than the normally aspirated 2-litre engine found in Super 2000 cars. The M-Sport Ford World Rally Team (formerly M-Sport World Rally Team, Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team and Stobart M-Sport Ford Rally Team) is the privately run World Rally Championship team of M-Sport, the firm run by Malcolm Wilson that was previously responsible for the operation of the former Ford World Rally Team.
