2014 Players' Championship
The 2014 Players' Championship was held from April 15 to 20 at the Consolidated Credit Union Place in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. It was the fourth and final Grand Slam of the 2013–14 World Curling Tour. On the men's side, Edmonton's Kevin Martin won a record eighth Players' Championship, which was his final Players' win before retirement. On the women's side, Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones won a record fifth Players' title. Summerside, Prince Edward Island
Summerside is a Canadian city in Prince County, Prince Edward Island. It is the second largest city in the province and the primary service centre for the western part of the island. History Summerside was officially incorporated as a town on April 1, 1877. On April 1, 1995, the Town of Summerside amalgamated with the incorporated communities of St. Eleanors and Wilmot. At the same time, the amalgamated Summerside annexed portions of the Community of Sherbrooke and the Lot 17 township. 2015 Players' Championship
The 2015 Players' Championship was held from April 7 to 12 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Ontario. It was the fifth and final Grand Slam of the 2014–15 World Curling Tour. Sault Ste. Marie's Brad Jacobs rink won their first men's title, while Scotland's Eve Muirhead rink won their second women's title. Tim March
Timothy March (born April 28, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Scarborough, Ontario. He currently plays lead on Team Glenn Howard. Career Youth March skipped his high school team from Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute to a provincial Schoolboy championship in 2005. Men's March played third on the Annandale Country Club team that were runners up at the 2010 The Dominion Curling Club Championship. The team had won the provincial curling club championship that year. March joined the Mark Kean rink in 2010, playing lead on the team. In 2011, the team played in their first Grand Slam event, the January 2011 Canadian Open. The team finished the event with an 0–5 record. Patrick Janssen
Patrick "Pat" Janssen (born May 12, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Burlington, Ontario. He currently plays second on Team John Epping. Career Youth Janssen skipped the University of Toronto men's curling team at the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, finishing with a 4–3 record. In 2005 he won the provincial schoolboy championship playing for his high school, Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute. Men's Janssen joined the Mark Kean rink in 2010, playing second on the team. In 2011, the team played in their first Grand Slam event, the January 2011 Canadian Open. The team finished the event with an 0–5 record. Travis Fanset
Travis Mitchell Fanset (born July 26, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Tillsonburg, Ontario. A former Canadian junior runner-up, he played on the World Curling Tour From 2011 to 2017, including one season with the John Epping rink. Career Fanset and his rink of Craig Van Ymeren, Geoff Chambers and Christopher Jay won the 2008 Ontario Junior Curling Championships, defeating Neil Sinclair in the provincial final. The team represented Ontario at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. There, Fanset led his rink to a 9–3 round robin record. The team then defeated Saskatchewan (skipped by Brennen Jones) in a tiebreaker, and then Prince Edward Island ( Brett Gallant) in the semifinal, before losing to Quebec's William Dion in the final. John Epping
John Allan Epping (born March 20, 1983) is a Canadian curler from Toronto, Ontario. He currently skips his own team out of the Leaside Curling Club in East York, Toronto. Career Born in Peterborough, Ontario, Epping was a top junior curler, having won the Ontario Junior championship in 2004. At the 2004 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, his team finished with an 8-4 record, just out of the playoffs. He won the 2006 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with Julie Reddick, Scott Foster and Leigh Armstrong. He won the 2007 provincial mixed as well, but could not defend his national title. After Juniors, Epping played third for Nick Rizzo until switching positions with Rizzo in 2006, and thus skipping the team. However, in 2007 he was picked up to play third for Olympic silver medallist Mike Harris. He'd only play one season for Harris before joining Wayne Middaugh's rink at second in 2008. Viktor Kjäll
Viktor Erik Kjäll ( anglicized as Kjell; born 13 June 1985) is a Swedish curler originally from Karlstad. Curling career Viktor Kjäll made his World Championship debut at the 2007 Edmonton World Championships as the Second for Sweden's most successful male skip at that time, Peja Lindholm. They finished with a 6 – 5 record in a four-way tie for fourth place. In the tie-breaking rounds, they lost to the eventual Silver Medalists Team Germany skipped by Andy Kapp. After Peja Lindholm's retirement, Kjäll eventually made his way onto Niklas Edin's team. Their first major competition was the 2009 European Championships held in Aberdeen, Scotland. They lost just two matches in the round robin and went on to win both of their playoff matches against Team Ulsrud of Norway and Team Stöckli of Switzerland to win the Gold Medal. Fredrik Lindberg
Bengt Fredrik Lindberg (born 2 February 1986) is a Swedish curler from Karlstad. Lindberg grew up in Östersund. From 2006 until 2008 he played both Third and Second positions for Sebastian Kraupp. In 2009 he and Kraupp joined Niklas Edin's team with Lindberg throwing Second stones. At their first major tournament, the 2009 Aberdeen European Championships, Fredrik Lindberg and his team pulled off several upsets against established senior teams including reigning 2009 World Bronze Medalists Team Ulsrud from Norway. They lost just two matches in the round robin portion and went on to win both of their Playoff matches defeating Team Switzerland in the Gold Medal match. Sebastian Kraupp
Sebastian Kraupp (born 20 May 1985) is a Swedish curler from Karlstad, Sweden. He currently coaches the Swedish men's junior team. From 2005 to 2008 Sebastian Kraupp skipped his own team. Starting with the 2008–2009 season he joined Niklas Edin's team throwing Third stones. Team Edin first achieved widespread attention at the 2009 Aberdeen European Championships where they stunned the curling competition by finishing second after the round robin tournament with a 7 – 2 record. Their only loses were to Team Murdoch of Scotland and Team Ulsrud of Norway who had won the Gold and Bronze medals respectively at the 2009 Moncton World Championships. Niklas Edin
Johan Niklas Edin (born 6 July 1985) is a Swedish curler. He currently resides in Karlstad, which has been his curling home base since 2008. He holds several sport distinctions. He is the first and the only skip in World Curling Federation (WCF) history to win three Olympic medals – gold (2022), silver (2018), and bronze (2014) – and to skip men's curling teams to six World Men's Curling Championship medals (2013, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). He is also a seven-time European Curling Championship titleholder (2009, 2012, 2014–2017, 2019) and also won three silver medals in those championships (2011, 2018, 2021). He is currently tied with Oskar Eriksson in first place on the WCF-recognized list of championship medals, with thirty-eight in total.
