The 2014 PTT Pattaya Open was a women's professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 23rd edition of the PTT Pattaya Open and was part of the International category on the 2014 WTA Tour. It took place at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand from January 27 through February 2, 2014. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. A wild card (also wildcard or wild-card and also known as an at-large berth or at-large bid) is a tournament or playoff berth awarded to an individual or team that fails to qualify in the normal way; for example, by having a high ranking or winning a qualifying stage. Estrella Cabeza Candela (; born 20 February 1987) is an inactive Spanish tennis player. Cabeza Candela has won 13 singles and 16 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Ayumi Morita
is a Japanese tennis player. She reached her career-high ranking of number 40 in the world in October 2011. At junior level, she reached a combined career-high ranking of world No. 3. Morita is known for strong and consistent two-handed groundstrokes which she hits very flat. She is also regarded as very tough mentally for a young player, often showing great resolve to win close matches despite a lackluster serve. Ana Isabel Medina Garrigues (, ; born 31 July 1982) is a Spanish tennis coach and former professional player. As a player she reached a career-high ranking of world No. 16 in 2020, and won 11 singles and 28 doubles titles, including the 2008 French Open, 2008 and 2009 French Open with Virginia Ruano Pascual. Like many of her Spanish compatriots, she was a clay-court specialist who grinds to win most of her rallies. However, unlike most of her fellow Spaniards, she preferred to play on hardcourts. Tadeja Majerič (born 31 August 1990, in Maribor) is a former tennis player from Slovenia. Majerič has won nine singles and six doubles title on the ITF Women's Circuit. is a Japanese professional tennis player. Her highest WTA rankings are No. 30 in singles and No. 77 in doubles. Olga Mykolayivna Savchuk ( uk, Ольга Миколаївна Савчук; born 20 September 1987) is a retired tennis player from Ukraine. Savchuk grew up in the city of Makiyivka in Donetsk province.
