2014 New York Mets Season
The 2014 New York Mets season, was the 53rd season of the franchise. It was also their 6th season at Citi Field. The Mets finished 79–83, their most wins since the 2010 season. Also, the Mets finished tied for 2nd place in the National League East, their highest place in the standings since 2008. Offseason On November 22, 2013, the Mets signed Chris Young to a one-year $7.25 million deal. The Mets agreed to terms with free agent outfielder Curtis Granderson on a four-year contract worth $60 million on December 6, 2013. The Mets signed Bartolo Colón on December 11, 2013 to bolster their starting rotation with the expected season long absence of ace starter Matt Harvey due to Tommy John surgery in October. National League East
The National League East is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. Along with the American League Central it is one of two divisions to have every member win at least one World Series title. The division was created when the National League (along with the American League) added two expansion teams and divided into two divisions, East and West effective for the 1969 season. The National League's geographical alignment was rather peculiar as its partitioning was really more north and south instead of east and west. Two teams in the Eastern Time Zone, the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds, were in the same division as teams on the Pacific coast. WFME-FM
WFME-FM (92.7 FM, ''Family Radio'') is a radio station licensed to Garden City, New York, and serving the western Long Island and New York City area. It is owned by Family Stations, Inc and broadcasts a religious music & reformed Christian teaching, Southern gospel music, and hymns format. The station's transmitter is located at the North Shore Towers in Glen Oaks, Queens. History In 1987, the station went on the air as WDRE-FM, and in 1996 changed to WLIR-FM. Washington Nationals
The Washington Nationals are an American professional baseball team based in Washington, D.C.. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the National League (NL) East division. From 2005 to 2007, the team played in RFK Stadium while a new stadium was being built. Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, colloquially known as Tommy John surgery (TJS), is a surgical graft procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with either a tendon from elsewhere in the patient's body, or with one from a deceased donor. Matthew Edward Harvey (born March 27, 1989), nicknamed The Dark Knight, is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB). Curtis Granderson Jr. (born March 16, 1981), nicknamed the "Grandyman", is an American former professional baseball outfielder. 2008 New York Mets Season
The 2008 New York Mets season was the franchise's 47th season. The Mets finished the season with an 89–73 record, second place in the National League East, three games behind the Philadelphia Phillies, and one game worse than the wild card winners, the Milwaukee Brewers.
