2014 NCAA Division II Football Season
The 2014 NCAA Division II football season, play of college football in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division II level, began on September 4, 2014 and concluded with the National Championship Game of the NCAA Division II Football Championship on December 20, 2014 at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas. CSU Pueblo won the national title with a 13–0 win over Minnesota State. This was CSU Pueblo's first national title. Conference changes and new programs Membership changes Azusa Pacific, Shorter, and Southern Nazarene completed their transitions to Division II and became eligible for the postseason. McMurry chose in January 2014 to abandon their transition to Division II in favor of a return to Division III, but still completed their Lone Star Conference schedule as planned. 2014 Emporia State Hornets Football Team
The 2014 Emporia State Hornets football team represented Emporia State University in the 2014 NCAA Division II football season. The Hornets played their home games on Jones Field at Francis G. Welch Stadium, in Emporia, Kansas as they have done since 1937. 2014 was the 121st season in school history. The Hornets were led by head coach Garin Higgins, who finished his 14th overall season, and eighth overall at Emporia State. Emporia State is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Preseason outlook ''Sporting News'' released their Top-25 on June 10, 2014. The Hornets were placed #22. Two days later the ''Lindy's NCAA Division II Preseason Top 25'' was released, where the Hornets were placed at #13, nine spots higher than the ''Sporting News'' ranking. 2014 Humboldt State Lumberjacks Football Team
The 2014 Humboldt State Lumberjacks football team represented Humboldt State University during the 2014 NCAA Division II football season. Humboldt State competed in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC). The 2014 Lumberjacks were led by seventh-year head coach Rob Smith. They played home games at the Redwood Bowl in Arcata, California. Humboldt State finished the season with a record of eight wins and two losses (8–2, 4–2 GNAC). The Lumberjacks outscored their opponents 388–181 for the 2014 season. This was a remarkable turnaround from the previous season when they were winless. The 2014 Texas A&M–Commerce Lions football team represented Texas A&M University–Commerce in the 2014 NCAA Division II football season. They were led by head coach Colby Carthel, who was in his second season at Texas A&M–Commerce.
