2014 NACAC Cross Country Championships
The 2014 NACAC Cross Country Championships took place on February 22, 2014. The races were held at the Mount Irvine Bay Golf Club, Mount Irvine Bay Golf Course in Mount Irvine Bay Golf Club, Mount Irvine, Trinidad and Tobago. A detailed report of the event was given for the IAAF. The event was overshadowed by the death of 17-year-old Jamaican junior Cavahn McKenzie who collapsed at the end 6 km junior event, and died shortly after his immediate transfer to Scarborough general hospital. North American, Central American And Caribbean Athletic Association
The North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) is the continental confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within Northern America, Central America, and the Caribbean. NACAC is one of six area associations of World Athletics (WA), previously named the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). NACAC was founded on December 10, 1988, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Presidents Amadeo Francis of Puerto Rico was elected as the first president of the association. He was re-elected in 1999 and 2003. In 2007 Neville "Teddy" McCook (Jamaica) was elected as new president and was re-elected in 2011. Samuel Alexander (6 January 1859 – 13 September 1938) was an Australian-born British philosopher. He was the first Jewish fellow of an Oxbridge college. He is now best known as an advocate of emergentism in biology. Early life He was born into a Jewish family at 436 George Street, Sydney, Australia, the third son of Samuel Alexander, a prosperous saddler, and Eliza née Sloman. His father died around the time he was born, of tuberculosis. Eliza moved the family to St Kilda, Victoria in 1863 or 1864, and Alexander was tutored, and placed at a private school. In 1871, he was sent to Wesley College, Melbourne, then under the headmastership of Martin Howy Irving. Alexander matriculated at the University of Melbourne on 22 March 1875.
