2014 Montreux Volley Masters
The 2014 Montreux Volley Masters was a women's volleyball competition held in Montreux, Switzerland between May 27 – June 1, 2014. Eight teams participated in this tournament. Germany defeated United States to win their first title, with Margareta Kozuch being awarded Most Valuable Player. Margareta Kozuch
Margareta "Maggie" Kozuch ( pl, Małgorzata Kożuch; born 30 October 1986) is a German female volleyball player who played for Atom Trefl Sopot, and previously played as a wing-spiker for TuS Berne Hamburg, CVMJ Hamburg, TV Fischbek (who changed their name to NA Hamburg), and Unicom Starker Kerakoll Sassuolo. She was Hamburg's sportswoman of the year in 2005. She represented the German women's national volleyball team in the FIVB World Grand Prix 2009. She was German sportswoman of the year in 2010. She is of Polish origin. Beach Volleyball After a successful career playing indoor volleyball, Kozuch switched to beach volleyball in 2017. She teamed up with Olympics veteran, Laura Ludwig, winning the World Tour Finals in 2019. In 2021, Ludwig and Kozuch represented Germany at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo that had been delayed due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic. Montreux Volley Masters
The Montreux Volley Masters (founded as the Coupe des Nations, later changed to BCV Volley Cup between 1990 and 1996 and to its current name in 1998) is an international invitational tournament for national teams in women's volleyball hosted by the Swiss Volley. Held annually in Montreux, Switzerland since 1984, it is the tournament that opens the international season for national teams. The main objective of this competition is to work as a preparation for more important and prestigious volleyball tournaments organized by the ''Fédération Internationale de Volleyball'' ( FIVB), such as the World Grand Prix, the World Championship, the World Cup and the Olympic Games. Many national teams use the tournament as a way of giving experience and international baggage to young players and, as a result, countries are often represented by their underage national teams. Final Round
A single-elimination, knockout, or sudden death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Natalia Nicolaevna Malykh (''russian: Ната́лья Никола́евна Малы́х'', born 8 December 1993 in Volgograd) is a Russian volleyball player, who plays as an opposite. She is member of the Russia women's national volleyball team and plays for Dinamo Krasnodar. Malykh was part of the Russian team which won the European Championships of 2013 and 2015. Maren Fromm (née Brinker; born 10 July 1986) is a retired German volleyball player, a member of Germany women's national volleyball team. Personal life On 24 June 2017 she married Christian Fromm, German national team volleyball player. Career Brinker represented her country in the FIVB World Grand Prix 2009. She signed for the Italian club Unendo Yamamay Busto Arsizio in June 2012 and won the 2012 Italian Supercup with this club. In the 2012–13 CEV Women's Champions League Brinker won the bronze medal with her club after falling to Rabita Baku in the semifinals, but defeating Galatasaray Daikin to claim the podium finish. Rachael Alexis Adams (born June 3, 1990) is an American former professional volleyball player who played as a middle blocker for the United States women's national volleyball team. Adams won gold with the national team at the 2014 World Championship and bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Career She attended Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati, Ohio where she played volleyball. She then played college volleyball at University of Texas at Austin.
