2014 Milan–San Remo
The 2014 Milan–San Remo was the 105th running of the Milan–San Remo single-day monument classic cycling race. It was held on Sunday 23 March over a distance of and was the fourth race of the 2014 UCI World Tour season. It was won in the sprint by Alexander Kristoff, ahead of Fabian Cancellara and Ben Swift. Route and pre-race favourites Race organisers initially introduced major changes to the route for the 2014 edition of the race, with the new Pompeiana climb being introduced between the existing Cipressa and Poggio climbs in the climax of the race, although the earlier climb of Le Mà nie was taken out. This was seen to tip the balance of the race in favour of puncheurs and climbers rather than sprinters, with many sprinters including 2009 winner Mark Cavendish () stating they would not compete. 2014 UCI World Tour
The 2014 UCI World Tour was the sixth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The series started with the opening stage of the Tour Down Under on 21 January, and concluded with the final stage of the Tour of Beijing on 14 October. After winning the 2008 UCI ProTour, Spain's Alejandro Valverde won his first World Tour individual points title, amassing 686 points over the course of the season. The rider finished 66 points clear of his closest rival and compatriot Alberto Contador of , while Australian rider Simon Gerrans was third for the team, but was over 200 points in arrears of Valverde. John Degenkolb
John Degenkolb (born 7 January 1989) is a German professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . His biggest wins to date are the 2015 Milan–San Remo and the 2015 Paris–Roubaix, two of cycling's five monuments. He is a winner of stages in all three Grand Tours, with ten stages and the points classification at the Vuelta a España, one stage of the Giro d'Italia, and one stage in the Tour de France. Gerald Michael Ciolek (born 19 September 1986) is a German former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2005 and 2016. He currently works as a directeur sportif for UCI Continental team . Career Ciolek started racing at senior events in May 2005, with , where he had a very successful season. He won the German National Road Race Championships aged 18, the youngest ever rider to do so. Ciolek was able to overcome seasoned sprinters Erik Zabel and Robert Förster without help from any team mates, ending the twelve-year domination of T-Mobile. The Tour of Oman is an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in Oman since 2010 as part of the UCI Asia Tour. It was scheduled to become part of the new UCI ProSeries in 2020, but both the 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. History The race is classified as a 2.HC (as of 2012). The race is organized by the Amaury Sport Organisation, and was held for the first time between 14 and 19 February 2010. The race is a men's competition consisting of six stages. The race contains mainly flat stages, with some hillier parts. Lead is a chemical element with the symbol Pb (from the Latin ) and atomic number 82. It is a heavy metal that is denser than most common materials.
