2014 Independence Bowl
The 2014 Independence Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 27, 2014, at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the United States. The 39th annual Independence Bowl, it pitted the Miami Hurricanes of the Atlantic Coast Conference against the South Carolina Gamecocks of the Southeastern Conference. The game started at 3:30 p.m. CST and aired ABC. It was one of the 2014–15 bowl games that concluded the 2014 FBS football season. Sponsored by duck call manufacturer Duck Commander, the game was officially known as the Duck Commander Independence Bowl. Independence Stadium (Shreveport)
Independence Stadium is a stadium owned by the city of Shreveport, Louisiana and is the home of the Independence Bowl. Formerly known as State Fair Stadium and Fairgrounds Stadium, it is the site of the annual Independence Bowl post-season college football game, initially (1976 in sports, 1976) the ''Bicentennial Bowl''. Before that, it was the home venue of the Shreveport Steamer of the short-lived World Football League (1974–75). It also served as a neutral site for the annual Arkansas–LSU football rivalry from 1924 to 1936. The 1924 game featured a silver football trophy as part of the dedication ceremonies for the new stadium. Michael Badgley (born July 28, 1995) is an American football placekicker for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Miami Hurricanes football, Miami and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018. 2005 South Carolina Gamecocks Football Team
The 2005 South Carolina Gamecocks football team represented the University of South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference during the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Gamecocks were led by Steve Spurrier in his first season as USC head coach and played their home games in Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. The 2005 Independence Bowl, the 30th in the history of the College Football bowl game, saw the Missouri Tigers of the Big 12 overcome a 21–0 deficit late in the first quarter to defeat the SEC's South Carolina Gamecocks, 38–31 in the 30th edition of the bowl game.
