2014 IIHF World Championship Division I
The 2014 IIHF World Championship Division I was a pair of international ice hockey tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Group A contested in Goyang, South Korea, and Group B contested in Vilnius, Lithuania, both running from 20 to 26 April 2014. 2013 IIHF World Championship Division I
The 2013 IIHF World Championship Division I was a pair of international Ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Group A contested in Budapest, Hungary and Group B contested in Donetsk, Ukraine, both running from 14 April to 20 April 2013. Divisions I A and I B represent the second and the third tier of the Ice Hockey World Championships. For the third consecutive year the two nations that had been demoted from the top level, were sent right back. In Group A Kazakhstan and Italy narrowly held off Hungary to achieve promotion, who lost for the first time in their history to South Korea. The Koreans also defeated Great Britain on the final day, relegating the British, and achieving a placement of 21st overall, their best ever finish. In Group B, Ukraine returned to Group A, Estonia returned to Division II, and the other four nations repeated their placements from 2012. Yutaka Fukufuji
is a Japanese ice hockey player for the Nikko Ice Bucks of the Asia League Ice Hockey. Fukufuji was the first Japanese player to appear in a National Hockey League (NHL) game. The first Japanese draft pick, Hiroyuki Miura, was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1992 NHL Draft, but never played in an NHL game. Fukufuji is the first Japanese citizen to be drafted as a goaltender in the NHL and second Japanese national to be drafted. Career Fukufuji was born in Kushiro, Hokkaidō, Japan. He played on the Kokudo hockey team of Asia League Ice Hockey in 2001. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2004 entry draft in the 8th round, 238th overall. Martin Schumnig (born July 28, 1989) is an Austrian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing with Black Wings Linz of the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). He has spent the majority of his playing career with EC KAC of his native Austria. Brian Lebler (born July 16, 1988) is an Austrian professional ice hockey right winger, who currently playing for the Steinbach Black Wings Linz of the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). Playing career Lebler began his professional career during the 2010–11 season after playing four years of Division I college hockey with the Michigan Wolverines. He split his first season with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League and the ECHL's Elmira Jackals. For the 2011–12 season, Lebler joined EHC Black Wings Linz of the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL).
