The 2014 Hong Kong Tennis Open was a women's professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was part of the 2014 WTA Tour and a return of the Hong Kong Open women's tennis tournament last held in 1993. It took place in Victoria Park, Hong Kong, from September 8 to 14. WTA International
The WTA International Tournaments was a category for professional tennis tournaments of the Women's Tennis Association from the 2009 WTA Tour until 2020, which replaced the previous Tier III and Tier IV categories. The winner of a WTA International adds 280 points to her WTA ranking. For the 2020 WTA Tour, 2020 season, there were 32 tournaments, all knock-out tournaments with a prize money for every event at $275,000 ($775,000 for WTA Shenzhen Open, Shenzhen, and $525,000 for Guangzhou International Women's Open, Guangzhou and Hong Kong Open (tennis), Hong Kong). Zhang Ling (tennis)
Zhang Ling (; born October 28, 1989), stylized as Lynn Zhang after retirement, is a former professional Chinese tennis player competing for Hong Kong. On 12 September 2011, she reached her highest singles ranking by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) of 184. On 22 June 2009, she also reached her highest WTA doubles ranking of 219. She won 14 singles titles and seven doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. In 2014, she had her first main-draw match win on the WTA Tour in Kuala Lumpur. She defeated Olga Savchuk, and become the first Hong Kongese player to achieve this, after Patricia Hy-Boulais done it in the 1980s. Sílvia Soler Espinosa (; born 19 November 1987) is a retired Spanish tennis player. Peng Shuai
Peng Shuai (; born 8 January 1986) is a Chinese retired professional tennis player. In February 2014, she was ranked world No. 1 doubles player by the WTA, becoming the first Chinese tennis player to achieve that ranking (in either singles or doubles). She peaked at No. 14 of the singles rankings in August 2011, and won two singles and 23 doubles titles on the WTA Tour. Peng won a gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games, defeating Akgul Amanmuradova in the singles final. Kimiko Date-Krumm
is a Japanese former professional tennis player. She reached the semifinals of the 1994 Australian Open, the 1995 French Open and the 1996 Wimbledon Championships, and won the Japan Open a record four times. She reached a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in 1995, and retired from professional tennis in November 1996. Julia Glushko (or Yulia, he, יוליה גלושקו; born 1 January 1990) is an Israeli retired tennis player. She won 11 singles and 14 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Vania King (born February 3, 1989) is an American former tennis player. A former top-ten doubles player, King won both the Wimbledon and US Open women's doubles titles in 2010 with partner Yaroslava Shvedova, with whom she also reached the final of the 2011 US Open.
