2014 Hockey India League Players' Auction
2014 Hockey India League Players' Auction or HIL Closed Bid was the mini auction/closed bid of players for the second season of the professional field hockey tournament, Hockey India League. The auction took place on 22 November at Lalit Hotel in New Delhi. A total of 154 players were auctioned out of which 95 were Indian players and 59 were foreign players from 14 countries. The base price for the players varied from 2,600 to 25,000. The salary cap available to each franchise for the auction was increased from 650,000 (4 crores) to 725,000 (4.46 crores) as per the requests of the franchises. The players were signed for the term of two years. During the closed bid, Kalinga Lancers, the new franchise of the Hockey India League, bought its 24 players while rest of the five franchises bought players due to the permanent withdrawals to complete their squads. Agustín Mazzilli
Agustín Alejandro Mazzilli (born 20 June 1989) is an Argentine field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Belgian Hockey League club Braxgata and the Argentine national team. Club career In Argentina, Mazzilli played for Lomas Athletic Club. His first club in Europe was KHC Leuven from Belgium. After two seasons with Leuven, he went to another Belgian club Royal Léopold, where he played for three seasons. Trent Mitton
Trent Grant Mitton (born 26 November 1990) is an Australian field hockey player who plays for the WA Thundersticks and the Kookaburras. Mitton is a striker. Mitton first joined the Australian team as part of the 19-member Champions Trophy squad at the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy in Mönchengladbach, Germany. He is part of the Australian team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. His father is Grant Mitton who represented Australia at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and his grandfather is Don Mitton who did likewise in New Zealand in 1958. Simon Mantell
Simon Douglas Mantell (born 24 April 1984) is an English field hockey forward. He is the younger brother of Richard Mantell. Mantell currently plays for Exeter University Hockey Club. Mantell made his international senior debut for the national squad on 9 November 2005 versus Ireland at Beeston. He was a member of the England squad that finished fifth at the 2006 Men's Hockey World Cup. He competed at the 2010 and 2011 Champions Trophy, and was also part of the winning squad at the 2009 EuroHockey Championship. Gonzalo Peillat
Gonzalo Peillat (born 12 August 1992) is an Argentine-German field hockey player who plays as a defender for German club Mannheimer HC and for the Germany national team. In 2015, Peillat was awarded the FIH 2014 Rising Star of the Year. He ended his Argentina career with a total of 153 caps and 176 goals and he is also considered as one of the greatest Argentine field hockey players of all-time. Lucas Martín Vila (born 23 August 1986) is an Argentine field hockey player who plays for Spanish club Benalmádena as a forward. He made his debut for the national squad in 2005, after having played the Junior World Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He played a total of 262 times for the Argentina national team until 2021. Kiel Brown (born May 1984) is an Australian field hockey player. He earned a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy.
