2014 Hamilton Tiger-Cats Season
The 2014 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season was the 57th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 65th overall. The Tiger-Cats finished in 1st place in the East Division for the first time since 1998 and finished with a 9–9 record. The Tiger-Cats advanced to and lost the Grey Cup game for the second year in a row, this time to the Calgary Stampeders by a score of 20–16. The team returned to Hamilton after playing one season in Guelph; the team split its games between Ron Joyce Stadium and the new Tim Hortons Field. There were significant delays in the construction of Tim Horton's Field, resulting in delays using the stadium and, subsequently, portions of the venue when it did open, resulting in a reduced seating capacity for the inaugural game against the Toronto Argonauts on Labor Day weekend. Canadian Football League East Division
The East Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League, its counterpart being the West Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the East Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The four teams in the division are the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. Several now-defunct teams have also played in the East Division including two teams from the United States and a large number of teams that have played in Hamilton, Montreal, and Ottawa prior to the current teams from those cities. 2014 CFL Draft
The 2014 CFL Draft took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 7:00 PM ET on TSN. 65 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. A total of 19 trades were made involving draft picks from this year, including six made on draft day itself, with five involving picks from the first round. The Ottawa Redblacks were scheduled to pick first in each round of the 2013 CFL Draft, and were supposed to have two bonus picks at the end of the draft. Due to stadium delays, Ottawa will join the Canadian Football League in 2014, and those stipulations will be applied to this year's draft instead. Toronto Varsity Blues
The Toronto Varsity Blues is the intercollegiate sports program at the University of Toronto. Its 43 athletic teams regularly participate in competitions held by Ontario University Athletics and U Sports. Christopher Johnson (Canadian Football)
Christopher Johnson (born April 18, 1991) is a former professional Canadian football linebacker and is the linebackers coach for the Toronto Varsity Blues football team of U Sports. Early career Johnson played high school football at Pickering High School, where he was an all-star in 2009. From 2010 to 2013, he played college football for the Toronto Varsity Blues. During his time with the Varsity Blues, he recorded 91 tackles, five sacks, and one interception returned for a touchdown. He also played in the CIS East-West Bowl in 2013. The Manitoba Bisons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The football team plays their games at Investors Group Field. Evan Gill (born August 19, 1992) is a Canadian football defensive lineman for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played CIS football at the University of Manitoba. Invited to Mini-Camp by NFL's New York Giants following the 2015 NFL Draft High school Gill is a graduate of Churchill High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Western Ontario Mustangs
The Western Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The school's athletic program supports 46 varsity teams. Their mascot is a Mustang named J.W. and the school colours are purple and white. Beau Landry (born September 24, 1991) is a Canadian football linebacker. He was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with the eighth overall pick in the 2014 CFL Draft. Dahrran Diedrick (January 11, 1979 – June 24, 2023) was a Canadian professional football player who was a running back in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was a three-time Grey Cup champion, winning with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2005 and the Montreal Alouettes in 2009 and 2010. Diedrick played college football in the United States with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
