2014 Formula Masters China
The 2014 Formula Masters China season was the fourth season of the Formula Pilota China series, and the second under the Formula Masters China branding. The championship commenced on 10 May at Zhuhai in China and finished on 21 October at Shanghai in China after eighteen races held at six meetings. Driving for Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG, James Munro of New Zealand finished the season as the drivers' champion, finishing 28 points clear of his closest rival, Hong Kong's Matthew Solomon, driving for Eurasia Motorsport. Munro started the season strongly, taking six successive wins at the first Zhuhai meeting and the first Shanghai meeting, as well as the opening race at Inje Speedium. Solomon hit back with a streak of his own, with four wins at Inje and Sepang; Munro finished behind him in three of the races, and ultimately went on to win eight races to Solomon's five at the end of the season. Formula Masters China, FMCS () (previously known as Formula Pilota China), was a Open wheel car, single-seater racing series based in Asia. The series was created in 2011 after the success of the Formula Abarth championship that was created a year before. Event schedule Each event in the championship is normally run to a three-day schedule. It comprises two free practice sessions on the first day, one qualifying session and 45–55 km or 25-minute race on the second day, and a 45–55 km or 25-minute race on the third day. The grid for the second race is determined by the fastest lap in the first race; if drivers set equal times, priority will be given to driver who set the time first. "Kevin" Pu Jun Jin (; born 17 June 1984) is a Chinese racing driver currently competing in the TCR Asia Series. Having previously competed in the Asian Formula Renault Series, Asian Le Mans Series and European Le Mans Series amongst others. Racing career Pu began his career in 2011 in karting. In 2012 he switched to the Volkswagen Scirocco R Cup China. He raced in the Formula Masters China championship from 2013–14, at the same time he also competed in the Asian Le Mans Series finishing 2nd in the LMP2 championship standings in 2014. In 2014 he also in raced in the Asian Formula Renault Series, he finished the season 4th in the championship standings. GT Asia
The GT Asia Series was a sports car racing series based in Asia. The championship combines FIA GT3 specification cars as the elite class of the series with Ferrari Challenge, Porsche Cup and older GT3 machinery competing in the GTM class. The series had its first season in 2010 with a dozen GT3 cars and has since expanded with grid sizes of 26 or more cars and a 13-round calendar visiting tracks in China, Malaysia, Japan and Thailand. James Munro (racing Driver)
James Munro (born 20 January 1997 in Christchurch, New Zealand) is a New Zealand former racing driver. Munro won championships in junior formulae such as Formula Ford and Formula Pilota China. James is the son of Mark Munro, a former Toyota Racing Series racing driver. Racing career After his New Zealand kart career Munro started racing cars in 2013. Racing a Mygale Munro won the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship winning ten out of fifteen races. He graduated into the fastest racing series in New Zealand, the Toyota Racing Series. Matthew Barry Solomon (born 19 February 1996) is a Hong Kong racing driver. Career Solomon began his motorsport career in kart racing in 2007, where he remained active until 2012. In 2013, Solomon switched to formula racing and competed for Eurasia Motorsport in Formula Masters China. He scored in every race and scored four third places for best results. He finished fifth in the overall standings. In addition, he completed as a guest drive in Formula Renault for Prema in Europe. 2014 Solomon remained in the Formula Masters China at Eurasia Motorsport. Zhuhai International Circuit
Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) (simplified Chinese: 珠海国际赛车场; traditional Chinese: ) is located at Jin Ding town in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. Motorsport started in Zhuhai when it hosted a race on its street circuit in 1993. Racing continued there until 1996 when the motor racing circuit was constructed and became China's first permanent motor race track with Formula One in mind. The circuit was designed by Australian company Kinhill Engineers Pty Ltd, the same group which created the Formula One circuit in Adelaide. The project manager for the project was Michael McDonough. The first international race held at the circuit was the BPR Global GT Series.
