The 2014 FXFL season was the inaugural season of the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL). Fall Experimental Football League
The Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL) was a professional football minor league that played two seasons in 2014 and 2015. This league's stated goal was to become a professional feeder-system for the National Football League (NFL). The league claimed 44 out of 126 players ended up on NFL rosters. After the FXFL ceased operations, FXFL founder and CEO Brian Woods made another attempt at an NFL feeder-system by creating The Spring League in 2017. Woods and the FXFL were subject to lawsuit after folding, claiming he did not pay players, assistant coaches, cheerleaders and officials. Brooklyn Bolts
The Brooklyn Bolts were a professional American football team based in Brooklyn, New York City, New York. They were a charter member of the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL), which was trying to become the developmental league for the National Football League. They played their home games at MCU Park. History In August 2014, it was announced that Brooklyn was awarded a franchise for the upcoming 2014 season of the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL). All of the teams in the league are owned by the FXFL, but local Minor League Baseball franchises are responsible for the operations of each team. Boston Brawlers
The Boston Brawlers were a professional American football team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The team was based at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Massachusetts as the Boston Brawlers, and were a charter member of the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL), which tried to become the developmental league for the National Football League. Their primary colors were red, midnight blue and white, similar to Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox, and its logo featured a mustachioed, bare-fisted boxer. The team never found an owner willing to keep the team in Boston. The league confirmed it would not return to Boston for the 2015 season, reassigned coach Terry Shea to the Brooklyn Bolts, and relocated the franchise to Niles, Ohio where the team was to be called the Mahoning Valley Brawlers, as the city is well known for boxing. Omaha Mammoths
The Omaha Mammoths were a professional football team based in Omaha, Nebraska. They were a charter member of the Fall Experimental Football League, which was trying to become the developmental league for the National Football League. They played their home games at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, home of the College World Series and the former home of the United Football League's Omaha Nighthawks. The Mammoths were the first pro outdoor football franchise to play in Omaha since the Nighthawks. Despite having the strongest attendance in the FXFL for 2014 and a promise from the commissioner that the team would return, the Mammoths were quietly replaced by the Hudson Valley Fort during the 2015 offseason due to travel costs. FXFL Blacktips
The Florida Blacktips were a professional American football team, operating as a traveling team. They were a charter member of the Fall Experimental Football League, which was trying to become the developmental league for the National Football League. They were to play their home games at FIU Stadium in Miami, also the home to the FIU Panthers football and track and field teams. However, it was announced on September 22, 2014, that the Blacktips would drop 'Florida' from its name and play a truncated road schedule of only three games. The Blacktips' inaugural season began on October 15, 2014. They finished the 2014 season in last place at 0–3. On September 18, 2014, the Blacktips announced the signing of former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd, however Boyd never played for the Blacktips, moving to the Boston Brawlers before the season started. Texas Outlaws (football)
The Texas Outlaws were a proposed professional football team based in Austin, Texas. They were to be members of Fall Experimental Football League. The team was owned by former NFL players Tommie Harris and Eric Bassey. They announced that the team colors were to be platinum and black, but had yet to announce a home stadium. They shared the mascot name with another team in Austin, the Austin Outlaws of the Women's Football Alliance. The Outlaws did not play in FXFL's inaugural 2014 season. As of the end of the 2014 season, the team was still being considered as a possibility for 2015, however, they were not included in that season's schedule and were assumed to have folded. The FXFL itself also ceased operations during the 2015 season.
