The 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy was the first edition of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The season consisted of twelve rounds and started on 3 May with the Portuguese round at Montalegre. The season came to end on 23 November, at San Luis, Argentina. FIA World Rallycross Championship
The FIA World Rallycross Championship (official abbreviation is World RX) is a rallycross series organised by the FIA in conjunction with series promoter Rallycross Promoter GmbH (founded by Red Bull and KW25). From the inaugural season in 2014 to 2020, sanctioning was shared with IMG Motorsport. Andreas Bakkerud
Andreas Bakkerud (born 10 October 1991) is a rallycross driver from Bergen, Norway. He has competed in the FIA Rallycross Supercar class since 2013 in both Euro RX and World RX, and Nitro Rallycross since 2021. He became European Champion in 2021. Biography Bakkerud won the FIA European Rallycross Championship in the Super1600 category twice, in 2011 and 2012. He entered the FIA European Rallycross Supercar class in 2013 with a private Citroën DS3, finishing fourth with two wins. In 2014 he joined the FIA World Rallycross Championship Supercar class, driving a Ford-supported Olsbergs MSE Fiesta. He got two wins and three second-place finishes, and placed fifth in the overall standings. In 2015 he scored a win, three podiums and eight top 5s, which put him fourth in the Supercar drivers championship. The 2014 World RX of Finland was the 4th race of the inaugural season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. It was held at the Tykkimäki amusement park in Kouvola. It was the first World Championship rallycross event ever held in Finland. American Tanner Foust won the event, and became the first World Championship event winner from North America. Tanner Foust (born June 13, 1973) is an American professional racing driver, stunt driver, and television host. He competes in rally, drift, ice racing, time attack, hill climb and rallycross with multiple podium placements, national championships, and world records. He was a co-host of the American version of the motoring television series ''Top Gear''. Background Growing up in a naval family, Foust spent several years as a child in Scotland, where he discovered rallying and learned to drive on the country roads near his home. He returned to the United States and worked jobs as a golf caddy and school bus driver, from which he was fired, and went into a pre-med track at the University of Colorado, earning a biology degree. Tykkimäki
Tykkimäki () is an amusement park in Kouvola, Finland. It has 30 different rides, along with some restaurants and kiosks. A camping site and Lake Käyrälampi are located near Tykkimäki. The park opened in 1986 and is operated by the Children's Day Foundation. Many of Tykkimäki's rides are preowned rides bought from other parks, most often from Linnanmäki or Särkänniemi. The latest ride relocation happened in 2007, when Tykkimäki opened the Kouvola-pyörä Ferris wheel, which had been at Linnanmäki over 40 years. World RX Of Finland
The World RX of Finland is a Rallycross event held in Finland for the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The event made its debut in the 2014 season, at the Tykkimäki amusement park in the town of Kouvola. In June 2020, an extraordinary World Motor Sport Council added an event in Kouvola (Finland) to replace the World RX of France as it was cancelled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reinis Nitišs (born 16 December 1995) is a rallycross driver from Jēkabpils, Latvia. He is the winner of the Super1600 division in the European Rallycross Championship in 2013 and is the youngest event winner in FIA World Rallycross Championship history. Biography Early career Nitišs started racing go-karts at the age of seven and was quickly successful having won multiple Latvian national titles and the Baltic series by 13. He moved into rallycross and dominated the Baltic and NEZ championships before moving into the European Super1600 category in 2012. Hell (, ) is a village in the Lånke area of the municipality of Stjørdal in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the western part of the municipality, about south of the town of Stjørdalshalsen. The village has a population (2018) of 1,589 and a population density of . Lånkebanen is a road racing circuit situated near Hell in Lånke, Stjørdal, Norway. The venue opened in 1987 as the first asphalt track in the country. It is used for a variety of motorsports, including rallycross, go-kart and motorcycle racing. The venue also features a designated hillclimbing and a motocross track on the slopes below, and a harness racing oval. Lånkebanen is owned by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF). The venue also serves the National Driving Teacher School and is used for testing by SINTEF and Q-Free. At an international level the venue is used for rallycross races.
