2014 Edmonton Eskimos Season
The Edmonton Eskimos season was the 57th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 66th overall. The Eskimos successfully improved upon their 4–14 record from 2013 after earning their fifth win in their sixth game. The Eskimos qualified for the playoffs and won the West Semi-Final over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, hosting their first playoff game since 2011 Edmonton Eskimos season, 2011. However, their season came to a close after they lost the West Final to the Calgary Stampeders, who defeated the Eskimos in all four meetings this season. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division (CFL), East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Toronto Varsity Blues is the intercollegiate sports program at the University of Toronto. Its 43 athletic teams regularly participate in competitions held by Ontario University Athletics and U Sports. Anthony Coombs (Canadian Football)
Anthony Coombs (born October 26, 1992) is a professional Canadian football wide receiver who is a free agent. He most recently played for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) football with the Manitoba Bisons. Professional career Toronto Argonauts In the CFL's Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings, Coombs was ranked eighth best of the players eligible in the 2014 CFL Draft. Otha Foster III (born September 27, 1988) is an American former professional gridiron football defensive back. He played college football at West Alabama. He has been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens of the NFL, and the Toronto Argonauts, Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan Roughriders and BC Lions of the CFL. Regina Rams
The Regina Rams represent the University of Regina, located in Regina, Saskatchewan in the sport of Canadian football in U Sports. The Rams joined U Sports in 1999 and have competed in the Canada West Conference since then. The program has won one U Sports football conference championship, in 2000, and the team has made one appearance in the Vanier Cup championship game. The Rams nickname is used by the university's football team only; all of the other teams at the school are named the Regina Cougars. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster.
