2014 Caribbean Series
The fifty-sixth edition of the Caribbean Series (''Serie del Caribe'') was played in . It was held from February 1 through February 8 of 2014 with the champion baseball teams of Cuba, Naranjas de Villa Clara; Dominican Republic, Tigres del Licey; Mexico, Naranjeros de Hermosillo; Puerto Rico, Indios de Mayagüez, and Venezuela, Navegantes del Magallanes. The games were played at Estadio Nueva Esparta in Margarita Island, Porlamar, Venezuela. Unlike previous Series, the five teams competed through a ten-game round robin schedule, each team facing the other teams once, followed by a final four playoff round. This was the first time since 1960 that a Cuban team took part. The Caribbean Series (''Spanish'': ''Serie del Caribe''), also called Caribbean World Series, is the highest tournament for professional baseball teams in Latin America. The tournament location is rotated annually among the countries and is normally played in February after all of the leagues have ended their national tournaments. Juan Pérez (outfielder)
Juan Carlos Pérez is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants and won the world series with the club in 2014. Career Pérez attended DeWitt Clinton High School in New York City, and after not being selected in the Major League Baseball draft, he attended Western Oklahoma State College. Irving Falú (born June 6, 1983) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, and San Diego Padres from 2012 to 2014. Career Kansas City Royals After playing college baseball at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, the Kansas City Royals selected Falú in the 21st round of the 2003 MLB draft. Tyler Daschiel Herron (August 5, 1986 – October 22, 2021) was an American right-handed professional baseball pitcher. As a senior at Wellington High School in Florida, Herron led the nation with a 0.25 ERA. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the First Round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft. Guillermo Reynoso Mota (born July 25, 1973) is a Dominican former professional baseball relief pitcher in Major League Baseball. The current eight stars flag of Venezuela was introduced in 2006.
