2014 Bulgarian Socialist Party Leadership Election
Leadership elections within the Bulgarian Socialist Party were held on 27 July 2014 as part of the party's 48th congress, following the resignation of Sergey Stanishev earlier that month. While he made no formal endorsement, he hinted at supporting economy minister Dragomir Stoynev, who had been recently elected as party co-chairman. Background Following his election as party leader in 2001 Sergey Stanishev was reelected in June 2002, November 2008, October 2009 and May 2012. Similar to Georgi Parvanov, Stanishev and the party remained in opposition to the Sakskoburggotski Government, despite the fact that two socialist ministers had joined it as independents. Attack (political Party)
Attack ( bg, Атака, Ataka) is a nationalist political party in Bulgaria, founded in 2005 by Volen Siderov, who was at the time presenter of the homonymous TV show ''Attack'' on SKAT TV. There are different opinions on where to place the party in the political spectrum: according to most scholars it is extreme right, according to others extreme left, or a synthesis of left- and right-wing. The leadership of the party asserts that their party is "neither left nor right, but Bulgarian". The party is considered ultranationalist and anti-Roma, as well as being anti-Muslim and anti-Turkish. The Ministry of Economy and Industry ( bg, Министерство на икономиката и индустрията, Ministerstvo na ikonomikata i industriyata) of Bulgaria is the ministry charged with regulating the economy and energy policy of the country. The Ministry of Economy was founded in December 1999 through the merger of the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism. Plamen Vasilev Oresharski ( bg, Пламен Василев Орешарски ; born 21 February 1960) is a Bulgarian politician who served as Prime Minister of Bulgaria from 2013 to 2014.
