2014 Brabantse Pijl
The 2014 Brabantse Pijl was the 54th edition of the Brabantse Pijl road cycling race. Held on 16 April 2014, it started in Leuven and ended later in Overijse. It was a 1.HC-ranked race that was part of the 2014 UCI Europe Tour. The main difficulty in the race was caused by 26 climbs, as well as the finishing climb in on the Schavei. The race was won by Philippe Gilbert () in a bunch sprint. Michael Matthews () finished second and Tony Gallopin () third. 2014 UCI Europe Tour
The 2014 UCI Europe Tour was the tenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2014 season began on 2 February 2014 with the Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise, Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise and ended on 19 October 2014 with the Chrono des Nations. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. Riccardo Zoidl of Austria was the defending champion of the 2013 UCI Europe Tour. The 2014 Europe Tour was won by Tom Van Asbroeck. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. Alexey Tsatevich (born 5 July 1989) is a Russian professional road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI Professional Continental team . Career Born in Verkhnyaya Pyshma in the then-Soviet Union, Tsatevich has competed as a professional since the start of the 2012 season, when he joined , having previously competed for the squad's feeder team – – in 2011. Julien Vermote (born 26 July 1989) is a Belgian professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . His brother is Alphonse Vermote, who rode for the squad. He was named in the start list for the 2015 Tour de France. Davide Rebellin (9 August 1971 – 30 November 2022) was an Italian professional road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI Continental team . He was considered one of the finest classic cycle races, classics specialists of his generation with more than fifty top ten finishes in UCI Road World Cup and UCI ProTour classics. Philippe Gilbert (born 5 July 1982) is a Belgian former professional road bicycle racer, who is best known for winning the World Road Race Championships in 2012, and for being one of two riders, along with Davide Rebellin, to have won the three Ardennes classics – the Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne and Liège–Bastogne–Liège – in a single season, which he accomplished in 2011. Simon Geschke (born 13 March 1986) is a German professional road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Biography He is the son of former track cyclist Jürgen Geschke. In the 2015 Tour de France, Geschke won a mountain stage as he was part of the breakaway and soloed across the line in Pra-Loup. In 2022 Geschke entered the Tour de France for the tenth time in his career. For the first time in his career he wore a classification jersey after getting involved in the breakaway on stage 9, and earning enough points to take the lead in the mountains classification.
