2014 Baku Cup
The 2014 Baku Cup was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. This was the fourth edition of the tournament, which was part of the 2014 WTA Tour. It took place in Baku, Azerbaijan between 21 and 27 July 2014. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. Nazrin Jafarova ( az, Nəzrin Cəfərova; born 16 November 1997) is an Azerbaijani tennis player. Jafarova made her WTA tour debut at the 2013 Baku Cup, having received a wildcard into the main draw, but lost in the first round to world number 62 Donna Vekić of Croatia. Klaudia Jans-Ignacik
Klaudia Jans-Ignacik (née Jans; born 24 September 1984) is a retired Polish tennis player. On 16 August 2004, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 410. On 10 September 2012, she peaked at No. 28 in the doubles rankings. Jans-Ignacik won three WTA doubles tournaments, 2009 Andalucia Tennis Experience with Alicja Rosolska, 2012 Internationaux de Strasbourg with Olga Govortsova, and 2012 Rogers Cup with Kristina Mladenovic. Janette Husárová
Janette Husárová (; born 4 June 1974) is a Slovak former tennis player. On 13 January 2003, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 31. On 21 April 2003, she peaked at No. 3 in the doubles rankings. She won the WTA Tour Championships women's doubles title in 2002, partnering with Elena Dementieva. Alison Van Uytvanck (; born 26 March 1994) is a Belgian professional tennis player. Van Uytvanck has won five singles and two doubles WTA Tour titles and three Challenger Tour singles titles, as well as 12 singles and two doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Zhang Shuai (; ; born 21 January 1989) is a Chinese professional tennis player. She is a two-time Grand Slam champion in women's doubles, having won the 2019 Australian Open and the 2021 US Open, both alongside Samantha Stosur. Mona Barthel (born 11 July 1990) is a German tennis player. Olga Mykolayivna Savchuk ( uk, Ольга Миколаївна Савчук; born 20 September 1987) is a retired tennis player from Ukraine. Savchuk grew up in the city of Makiyivka in Donetsk province.
