2014 BWF World Championships
The 2014 BWF World Championships was a badminton tournament which was held from 25 to 31 August 2014 at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark. Host city selection Copenhagen and Macau submitted bids for this of championships. Both cities also bid for the 2013 edition, which was later won by Guangzhou. On 9 December 2011, Badminton World Federation decided to award the championships to Copenhagen during a meeting in Queenstown, New Zealand. Draw The draw was held on 11 August 2014 at the Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Schedule All five events started on the first day and concluded with the final on the last day. Ballerup Super Arena
Ballerup Super Arena (formerly Siemens Arena) is a multi-purpose indoor arena, in Ballerup, Denmark. The velodrome has a seated capacity of 6,500. During concerts, the arena can accommodate an audience of up to 9,200. It is owned by Ballerup Municipality. The arena is also a venue for many company events, conferences, team building events, trade fairs, company sports events and cycling events. The arena was opened in 2001. In 2003, the roof collapsed, as a result of a miscalculation in design and the new roof was reinforced with cables. It's the only international indoor velodrome in the Nordic countries. Kim Sa-rang (badminton)
Kim Sa-rang (Hangul: 김사랑; ; born 22 August 1989) is a South Korean badminton player. He competed at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Kim Sa-rang started playing badminton when he was in elementary school, and his international debut on the Osaka International tournament. He joined the Korea national badminton team in 2008. At that year, he won the Australia International Challenge tournament in the men's doubles event partnered with Choi Sang-won. In 2011, he won the Turkey International tournament in the men's doubles event with Kim Gi-jung. In 2012, he and Kim Gi-jung won their first Superseries title at the Japan Open tournament. In the final round they beat the Malaysian pair Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong. Kim Ki-jung
Kim Gi-jung or Kim Ki-jung (; or ; born 14 August 1990) is a South Korean badminton player. He competed at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's doubles event. Career In 2008, he won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Eom Hye-Won. In 2009, he competed at the Hong Kong East Asian Games and won a silver medal in the men's team event and a bronze medal in the men's doubles event partnered with Kwon Yi-goo. Carsten Mogensen
Carsten Mogensen (born 24 July 1983) is a former badminton player from Denmark. He was the gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, two time European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and the silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Mogensen was a former world number 1 in the BWF World ranking together with Mathias Boe. Early life Mogensen was born in Roskilde, a city on the island of Zealand and is currently living in nearby Greve. Career He won the silver medal at the 2006 European Badminton Championships in men's doubles, with Mathias Boe. Two years later he won the bronze medal at the 2008 European Badminton Championships in mixed doubles with Helle Nielsen. Mathias Boe
Mathias Boe (born 11 July 1980) is a badminton player from Denmark. He was the gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, two time European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and the silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He joined the Denmark winning team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China. Career He won the silver medal at the 2006 European Championships in men's doubles with Carsten Mogensen. In 2010, Mogensen and Boe won the titles at the Denmark and French Opens and also the Superseries Final held in Taipei. One year later Mogensen and Boe won the All England Open. With Mogensen, he won the silver medal in the men's doubles at the 2012 Olympics. Yoo Yeon-seong
Yoo Yeon-seong (; born 19 August 1986) is a South Korean professional badminton player. He specializes in doubles events and was ranked as high as No. 2 worldwide with his former partner, Ko Sung-hyun. The two also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. For a long time he played mixed doubles with Kim Min-jung, but later switched partners to play with Jang Ye-na, starting in 2011. Starting in late 2013, his men's doubles partner was Lee Yong-dae. Together, they reached a world ranking of No.1 in August 2014. Lee Yong-dae (Hangul: 이용대; Hanja: 李龍大; ; born 11 September 1988) is a professional badminton player from South Korea who had been successful in both men's and mixed doubles. He reached world number 1 ranking with 4 different partners, Jung Jae-sung, Ko Sung-hyun and Yoo Yeon-seong in men's doubles, and Lee Hyo-jung in mixed doubles. He won a total of 43 Superseries titles, 37 in the men's doubles, the most of any doubles player in one discipline, and 6 in mixed doubles. He was ranked world number 1 in men's doubles for 117 consecutive weeks with his last partner, Yoo Yeon-seong. Shin Baek-cheol
Shin Baek-cheol (Hangul: 신백철; born 19 October 1989) is a mixed and men's doubles badminton player from South Korea. He is a World, Asian and World Junior Champions, as well a gold medalists in the Asian Games and Summer Universiade. Career Shin started to play badminton at the age of 8 in Wallgot Elementary School. He later belonged to the badminton team of the Korea National Sport University before moving to Gimcheon City Hall in 2012. In February 2009, Shin replaced Jung Jae-sung as Lee Yong-dae's partner. Ko Sung-hyun
Ko Sung-hyun (Hangul: 고성현; ; born 21 May 1987) is a South Korean badminton player affiliated with Gimcheon City Hall. He is a former world number 1 both in the men's and mixed doubles. Ko is a BWF World Champion, two time Badminton Asian Champion, and Asian Games gold medalist. Ko started to get the attention of the World and Korean badminton when he won the bronze medal at the 2010 World Championships partnered with Ha Jung-eun.
