The 2014 Daily Mirror BDO World Trophy is the new major darts tournament run by the British Darts Organisation, hosted between 4–9 February 2014 at the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool. This event organized by the BDO Events - the new commercial arm of the British Darts Organisation The Event marks the first BDO major event since the split in darts to not feature the BDO World Champion as Stephen Bunting left once he won the Lakeside Championships in 2014. Glen Durrant
Glen Durrant (born 24 November 1970), nicknamed "Duzza", is an English former professional darts player who played in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He previously won the BDO World Darts Championship three times consecutively from 2017 to 2019. He is also a one-time World Trophy, two-time World Masters and three-time Finder Darts Masters champion. After switching to the PDC in 2019, Durrant secured his maiden PDC major title by winning the 2020 Premier League. BDO Early career Although he began playing in 1985, Durrant's first major appearance was in the 2004 Winmau World Masters, where he lost out in the early stages to Dietmar Burger. Karel Sedláček (born 17 February 1979) is a Czech darts player. Career Sedláček qualified for the 2014 BDO World Darts Championship playing Paul Hogan in the preliminary round, losing 1–3. David Cameron (born 15 September 1969) is a Canadian professional darts player, who mainly competes in the World Darts Federation tournaments. He is the first and сurrent 2022 World Seniors Darts Masters champion and triple Canadian champion. Career Cameron has appeared at the BDO World Darts Championship six times, but hasn't got past the first round in his first five appearances, his only win coming against Jimmy Hendriks in 2017. Jim Williams (born 27 July 1984) is a Welsh professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Williams first ever rose to prominence in October 2012 at the Winmau World Masters in Hull. Rick Hofstra (born 21 April 1977) is a former Dutch professional darts player. Career Hofstra reached the quarter finals of the 2001 Belgium Open and the 2002 Swiss Open before making his major debut in the 2003 International Darts League, where he beat Scotland's Bob Taylor in his opening group game before losing to Raymond van Barneveld. Paul Jennings (born 22 September 1976) is an English former darts player who competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) events. Career A native of Hartlepool in the north-east of the country, Jennings came to wider attention when he qualified for the 2012 BDO World Darts Championship. After defeating Garry Thompson 3-1 in the first round, Jennings defeated Steve Douglas 4-2 in their second round clash. He lost to fellow tournament debutant Wesley Harms in the quarter-finals, being defeated 5-3 in sets.
