2014 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2014 Atlantic 10 women's basketball tournament will be played March 5–9 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia. This will be a 13 team Tournament with the addition of George Mason. The top 11 seeds will get the first round bye and the top 4 seeds will get the double bye. The 2014 championship game will be nationally televised on ESPNU. Fordham defeated Dayton 63–51 to win their first A-10 Tournament in school history. With that win, the Rams received the Atlantic 10 Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Tournament. Richmond Coliseum
Richmond Coliseum is a defunct arena located in downtown Richmond, Virginia, with a capacity of 13,500 that was most often used for various large concerts. The arena opened in 1971 and the region is looking to replace the aging facility with a larger one. The arena was quietly shuttered in February 2019 while new proposed replacements are in development. History Until John Paul Jones Arena opened in 2006, the Richmond Coliseum was the largest sports arena in Virginia. The Virginia Commonwealth University Rams men's basketball team played in the arena until the 7,500-seat Siegel Center opened on the VCU campus in 1999. Stephanie Gaitley
Stephanie Gaitley (née Vanderslice; born January 25, 1960) is the head basketball coach of the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, Fairleigh Dickinson Knights women's basketball. She has served as head basketball coach at Fordham University, Monmouth University, and Long Island University. During her six seasons at LIU, she posted a 95–82 record. In 2007, she guided LIU to a school record 22 wins, and the top overall seed in the NEC tournament. She was named the 2006-07 NEC coach of the year for her efforts. She led LIU to two 20+ win seasons, and the first WNIT appearance in school history. She also served as the head basketball coach at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. She led the Hawks to five 20 win seasons, and two Atlantic 10 championships, as well as five NCAA tournament appearances. She also coached at the University of Richmond from 1985 to 1991. 2014 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2014 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament was played in March and April 2014, with the Final Four played April 6–8. The Ohio Valley Conference served as the host institution. The Final Four was played at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Tennessee continued its streak of making every NCAA women's basketball tournament at 33 consecutive appearances. Connecticut (who made their seventh consecutive Final Four overall) and Notre Dame faced each other in the NCAA Final. Both were undefeated heading into the championship game, making it the first ever match up of two undefeated teams in the championship game. The 2013–14 Fordham Rams women's basketball team represents Fordham University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The team was coached by Stephanie Gaitley in her third year at the school. Fordham Rams home games were played at Rose Hill Gymnasium and the team is a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Rams finished with an 11-5 record in conference play and were the 3-seed going into the A-10 Tournament.
