2014 Arizona Secretary Of State Election
The 2014 Arizona Secretary of State election took place on November 4, 2018, to elect the Secretary of State of Arizona, concurrently with other statewide elections, including for governor and U.S. House. Incumbent Republican Secretary of State Ken Bennett was term-limited and ineligible to run for a third term in office. He instead ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for governor. Republican nominee Michele Reagan succeeded Bennett and won the election against Democratic challenger Terry Goddard. As of 2022, this is the last time that a Republican has been elected Secretary of State in Arizona. Michele Reagan (born October 13, 1969) is an American Republican politician who served as the 20th Arizona Secretary of State, from 2015 to 2019. She is currently a Justice of the Peace for the Maricopa County McDowell Mountain Precinct. Early life A native of Rockford, Illinois, Reagan first moved to Arizona in 1991 with her family and opened a Fastsigns. Catherine Miranda
Catherine Miranda (born October 5, 1964) is an American politician and member of the Arizona Senate from District 11. Miranda previously served in the Arizona Senate, representing the 27th electoral district from 2015 to 2019. She was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015. In 2018, Miranda ran in the Democratic primary for Arizona's 7th congressional district in 2018, challenging incumbent Democrat Ruben Gallego, but lost the nomination. The 2010 Arizona gubernatorial election was held on November 2, 2010, to elect the Governor of Arizona. Incumbent Republican Jan Brewer ran for a full term. The Arizona State Senate is part of the Arizona Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Arizona. The Senate consists of 30 members each representing an average of 219,859 constituents (2009 figures). Members serve two-year terms with term limits that limit Senators to four terms for a total of eight years. Members of the Republican Party are currently the majority in the Senate.
