2014 ABL Season
The 2014 ASEAN Basketball League Regular Season was the fifth season of competition of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). Hi-Tech Bangkok City won its second title in its franchise history after defeating Westports Malaysia Dragons in two games. Anthony Macri, the commissioner of the league for the past two years, resigned on 21 February 2014. The regular season began on 16 July 2014 and concluded on 26 October 2014. ASEAN Basketball League
The ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) is a professional men's basketball league in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong/Macau, which includes six teams from Southeast Asian nations (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), one team from Hong Kong, and one team from Macau. The league was proposed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and launched its inaugural season on 1 October 2009. Indonesia Warriors
The Indonesia Warriors was an Indonesian professional basketball team that last competed in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Warriors replaced Satria Muda BritAma as Indonesia's representative in ABL. On 19 January 2015, team general manager Rudolph Tulus, the commercial and corporate partnership director of Indonesia Sport Venture, the company that owns and manages the Warriors, announced that management had decided to pull the Warriors out of the 2015–16 ABL season in order to focus on its team (Satria Muda BritAma) in the domestic league. Rudolph Tulus also cited the team's poor results in the 2014 season and its responsibility to its sponsors as contributing factors to the decision. He said that management had not ruled out rejoining the ABL, but he could not be sure when that might be. HiTech Bangkok City
HiTech is a chess machine built at Carnegie Mellon University under the direction of World Correspondence Chess Champion Dr. Hans J. Berliner, by Berliner, Carl Ebeling, Murray Campbell, and Gordon Goetsch. HiTech was the first computer chess system to reach the 2400 (senior master) USCF rating level. It won the Pennsylvania State Chess Championship twice. HiTech won the 1985 and 1989 editions of the North American Computer Chess Championship. In 1988 HiTech defeated GM Arnold Denker 3½-½ in a match (though Denker was at the time well past his best, with an Elo rating of 2300). Justin Howard (basketball)
Justin Aronel Howard (born August 22, 1981) is an American professional basketball player for the Chong Son Kung Fu of the ASEAN Basketball League. Howard is a 6'11" center and is from Orlando, Florida. College career Howard played for Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, from 1999 to 2003. He was one of the team captains in his final season, in which the Mercer Bears were crowned Atlantic Sun Conference champions, as well as all-academic for three out of four years. Avery Scharer
Avery Roberto Scharer (born August 23, 1986), is a Filipino- American professional basketball player. Early life Scharer was born in Seattle, and is of half-African American and Filipino descent. His father is an African-American, while his mother is a Filipina, who hails from Bauang, La Union. His parents divorced when he was a child. At age seven, he first learned basketball in the tough community in Central District, Seattle through his uncle, who used to let him play against grown men. Dior Alexandros Lowhorn (born April 15, 1987) is an American professional basketball player. He now plays for Abejas de León of the LNBP. He played college basketball for Texas Tech and San Francisco.
