2013–14 Washington Wizards Season
The 2013–14 Washington Wizards season is the 53rd season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the 41st in the Washington, D.C. area. Having a record of 44-38, their best record since the 2004-05 NBA season, including a 22-19 road record, their best since the 1996-97 NBA season as the Washington Bullets, the Wizards clinched playoff berth for the first time since the 2007-08 NBA season. The team beat the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 2014 NBA playoffs. It was only the third time a Wizards team advanced past the opening round since losing the 1979 NBA Finals. However, they lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Randy Wittman
Randy Scott Wittman (born October 28, 1959) is an American former basketball player at the guard position and former coach of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Washington Wizards. Playing career High school Wittman starred for Indianapolis Ben Davis High School from 1975–1978. He averaged more than 23 points a game for Ben Davis, which remains the second-highest average at the school, and became one of the nation's top recruits. In 1978 he was second to Brad Leaf of all Marion County, Indiana, scorers. College The 6'6" Wittman played college basketball from 1979–1983 for Bob Knight and the Indiana University Hoosiers. 2013–14 Chicago Bulls Season
The 2013–14 Chicago Bulls season was the franchise's 48th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA). They finished the regular season with a record of 48-34, heading into the playoffs with the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. They lost in the first round to the Washington Wizards in five games. After a year absence, Derrick Rose returned to action during the season opener in Miami against the two-time defending champion Miami Heat, but on November 22, 2013, at Portland he injured his meniscus in his right knee and was once again put on injured reserve, ending his season after 10 games. Besides losing Rose, on January 7, 2014, the Bulls traded Luol Deng to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Andrew Bynum, who was waived immediately after the trade. Sam Cassell
Samuel James Cassell Sr. (born November 18, 1969) is an American professional basketball coach and former point guard who serves as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Drafted 24th overall in the 1993 NBA draft out of Florida State, Cassell played for eight different teams during his 15-year career. He was selected to the NBA All-Star Game and All-NBA Team once, both in the 2003–04 season. In his first two seasons, he helped the Houston Rockets win back to back championships, in 1994 and 1995, and won a third with the Boston Celtics in 2008, his last season. Don Zierden
Donald Casper Zierden, Jr. is an American basketball coach. From 2007 to 2009, Zierden served as the head coach of the Minnesota Lynx in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Early life and education Zierden, a Minneapolis native, graduated from DeLaSalle High School (Minneapolis), DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis and later from Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, Wisconsin in 1981. Don Newman (basketball)
Donald David Newman (November 22, 1957 – September 11, 2018) was an American professional athlete in basketball and Canadian football. Following his playing career, he was the head basketball coach at Arizona State for the 1997–98 season, and Sacramento State from 1992 to 1997. NBA Development League
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official List of developmental and minor sports leagues, minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The Rio Grande Valley Vipers are an American professional basketball team of the NBA G League based in Edinburg, Texas, and are affiliated with the Houston Rockets. The Vipers play their home games at the Bert Ogden Arena. Glen Anthony Rice Jr. (born January 1, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for Brillantes del Zulia of the Superliga Profesional de Baloncesto (SPB). The Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball program represents Georgetown University in NCAA Division I men's intercollegiate basketball and the Big East Conference. Otto Porter Jr. (born June 3, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas and was selected with the third overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards.
