2013–14 Saint Mary's Gaels Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Saint Mary's Gaels men's basketball team represented Saint Mary's College of California during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Randy Bennett's thirteenth season at Saint Mary's. The Gaels competed in the West Coast Conference and played their home games at the McKeon Pavilion. They finished the season 23–12, 11–7 in WCC play to finish in fourth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the WCC tournament where they lost to Gonzaga. They were invited to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Utah in the first round before losing in the second round to Minnesota. Departures Recruiting 5 newcomers will join the Gaels basketball team for the 2013-14 season. Of the 5 newcomers, 2 will redshirt the season. Randy Bennett
Randall William Bennett (born June 9, 1962) is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Saint Mary's College of California. He led the team to several second-place finishes and seven NCAA tournament appearances, culminating in regular season conference championships in 2011, 2012 and 2016 as well as WCC tournament championships in 2010, 2012 and 2019. Early life and college playing career Born in Mesa, Arizona, Bennett graduated from Westwood High School in Mesa and began his collegiate career at Mesa Community College, playing under his father Tom from 1980 to 1982. Maryborough () is a town in Victoria, Australia, on the Pyrenees Highway, north of Ballarat and northwest of Melbourne, in the Shire of Central Goldfields. Garrett Jackson (born October 27, 1991) is an American former professional basketball player and current coach. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Joe Coleman (born June 16, 1993) is an American basketball player. He was named 2011 Minnesota Mr. Basketball and was a Top 100 ESPN Recruit. He was also a contestant on ''The Bachelorette''. High school career Coleman is a 2011 graduate from Hopkins High School. He led the school to three state championships in 2009, 2010, and 2011. In 2011, he was named Captain of the team and had a record of 32–1. After leading the team to a state championship he was then named Minnesota Mr. Basketball. La Verne is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 31,063 at the 2010 census, down from 31,638 at the 2000 census. History The European history of the area dates back to the 1830s when Ygnacio Palomares and Ricardo Véjar received the Rancho San Jose land grant from Governor Juan Bautista Alvarado in 1837.
