2013–14 Fogo Island League
The 2013-14 Fogo Island League season was the competition of the second and third tiers of Association football, football on the island of Fogo, Cape Verde, Fogo, Cape Verde. It started on November 23, 2013 and finished on March 30, 2014. The tournament was organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul, ARFF). Académica do Fogo, Académica Fogo won the 13th title, it was also the club's last title won. Overview Académica Fogo was the defending team of the title. Fogo Island League
The Fogo Premier Division is a tier-2 regional championship played in Fogo Island, Cape Verde. The competition are organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol do Fogo, ARFF). The winner of the championship plays in the Cape Verdean football Championships of each season while the last placed club relegates and participates in the Second Division in the following season. About the Island/Regional Championships and the Premier Division The island league was formed in 1975 when Cape Verde became independent, unofficial competitions took place in years before the founding. In the mid-1990s, it would become the next island league to also have a second division after Santiago (now divided into two zones). The last place club were relegated, from around 2009, the ninth placed club plays with a runner up of the Second Division in a division decisional match. Cutelinho Futebol Clube is a professional football club that currently plays in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the village of Mosteiros in the northeastern part of the island and plays in the stadium with a capacity of 1000. Its current manager is Amarildo Baessa. Its nickname is ''leoninhos'' which means ''little lions'' in Portuguese. Associação Spartak D'Aguadinha is a sports club whose football team had played in the Premier division and plays in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in São Filipe's subdivision of Aguadinha located next to Bila Baxo (the city center) in the island of Fogo and plays at Estádio 5 de Julho. Estádio Francisco José Rodrigues is a multi-use stadium in Mosteiros on the island of Fogo, Cape Verde, as the island size is small, it is the only sports venue on the island. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Cutelinho and Nô Pintcha dos Mosteiros, clubs based from other parts of the municipality also plays at the stadium including Grito Povo. Associação Académica do Fogo is a football club that currently plays in the Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde and in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde.
