2013–14 Bangladesh Football Premier League
The 2013–14 Bangladesh Premier League is also known as Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier League due to the sponsorship from Nitol-Tata. It was the 7th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League since its establishment in 2007. A total of 10 football clubs competed in the league. The country's top-flight football competition was started on 27 December 2013. Sheikh Russell are the defending champions after claiming their first Bangladesh Premier League championship. The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), officially known as TVS Motor Company, TVS Bangladesh Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is a top tier of Bangladeshi professional association football, football league pyramid. It is run directly by the professional football league committee of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). Dhaka Derby is one of the most popular matches in the league. Bangabandhu National Stadium ( bn, বঙ্গবন্ধু জাতীয় স্টেডিয়াম, ''romanised: Bongobondhu jateeyo stediyaam''), also known as Dhaka Stadium, and formerly known as Dacca Stadium, is the national stadium and a multipurpose sports arena in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Team Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (Team BJMC) was a sporting club in Bangladesh, which is mainly located in the city of Dhaka. The club was formerly known as East Pakistan IDC prior to 1971 and Bangladesh JIC from 1971 until 1978, from which point onward the club has been renamed to Team BJMC. Muktijoddha Sangsad KC ( bn, মুক্তিযোদ্ধা সংসদ ক্রীড়া চক্র) is a Bangladeshi professional football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The club is nicknamed The Freedom Fighters. It competes in the country's premier competition, Bangladesh Premier League. History Early Years Founded in 1981, by the Muktijoddha Sangsad welfare association, in remembrance of the Freedom Fighters that died in Bangladesh during the 1971 Liberation War. Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited Dhaka, founded in 1936 at Dhaka, is one of the oldest and one of the most popular football clubs in Bangladesh, with a support base in all parts of the country.
