Willem-Alexander
Willem-Alexander (; Willem-Alexander Claus George Ferdinand; born ) is King of the Netherlands, having acceded to the throne following his mother's abdication in 2013. Willem-Alexander was born in Utrecht as the oldest child of Princess Beatrix and diplomat Claus van Amsberg. He became Prince of Orange as heir apparent upon his mother's accession as Queen on , and succeeded her following her abdication on . He went to public primary and secondary schools in the Netherlands, an international sixth-form college in Wales, served in the Royal Netherlands Navy, and studied history at Leiden University. Lauwersoog
Lauwersoog is a seaside village and harbour in the province of Groningen, located in the northern part of the Netherlands. It is part of the municipality of Het Hogeland. It was established on 23 May 1969. The ferry to Schiermonnikoog departs from Lauwersoog. History As part of the Zuiderzee Works, it was decided to transform the Lauwerszee (a bay) into the Lauwersmeer (lake). In 1969, a dike was completed on the border of the provinces of Friesland and Groningen which separates the Lauwersmeer from the Wadden Sea. The village and harbour were named Lauwersoog in 1964 based on a suggestion by Sip Sytsma who worked for the Ministry of Transport and Water Management, to match the nearby islands of Rottumeroog and Schiermonnikoog. The name received some criticism because -oog means island, and it is not an island. On 23 May 1969, Lauwersoog was officially established. Vlieland
Vlieland (; fry, Flylân) is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and island in the northern Netherlands. The municipality of Vlieland is the second most sparsely populated municipality in the Netherlands, after Schiermonnikoog. Vlieland is one of the West Frisian Islands, lying in the Wadden Sea. It is the second island from the west in the chain, lying between Texel and Terschelling. The island was permanently separated from the mainland in St. Lucia's flood in 1287. Vlieland was named after the Vlie, the seaway between it and Terschelling that was the estuary of the river IJssel in medieval times. Richel is a permanently dry sandbank, located about 1 kilometer east of the northernmost point of Vlieland and is administered by the municipality of Vlieland. René Van Der Gijp
René van der Gijp (born 4 April 1961) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a right winger for Sparta Rotterdam, Lokeren, PSV, Neuchâtel Xamax, Aarau and Heerenveen, as well as for the Netherlands national team. Since retiring from football in 1992, he has worked as a sports pundit and commentator. The son of former footballer Wim and nephew of Cor, van der Gijp was born in Dordrecht and began his senior career with Sparta Rotterdam in 1978. During his career, where his best period was in the mid-1980s for PSV, he gained 15 caps for the Netherlands national team in which he scored two goals. After ending his playing career, van der Gijp became known on television as a co-host in the football talk show ''Voetbal Inside'' (later ''Veronica Inside''). DierenPark Amersfoort
DierenPark Amersfoort is a zoo located on the West side of Amersfoort, in the province of Utrecht, on the edge of the Birkhoven forest, in the Netherlands. History The zoo was founded on 22 May 1948 by Mr. Tertoolen and Mr. Knoester. Initially it was a very small zoo with a monkey, a bear, a camel and some farm animals. In the years afterwards the first carnivore arrived, and in 1956 the elephants Indra and Rani arrived. In 1960, Mr. and Mrs. Vis-Tertoolen, one of the zoo founder's daughters and her husband, took over the management of the zoo, and the first of the chimpanzees arrived. In 1979, 2 white southern white lions were born, but while growing up they became normally colored. In 1982 seven Sudan cheetahs were born. In 1988, the park got a savanna area and " De Ark van Amersfoort" (Amersfoort's Ark) was opened. The zoo currently has an area of about . Schoonloo
Schoonloo is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe, Netherlands. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 14 km southeast of Assen. The village was first mentioned in 1328 as Gherard Sconelo. Even though it seemingly reads "beautiful forest", the etymology in unclear. Schoonloo developed in the Middle Ages on the highest point of the Rolderrug as a satellite of Rolde Rolde () is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Tilburg
Tilburg () is a city and municipality in the Netherlands, in the southern province of North Brabant. With a population of 222,601 (1 July 2021), it is the second-largest city or municipality in North Brabant after Eindhoven and the seventh-largest in the Netherlands as a whole. Callantsoog
Callantsoog ( West Frisian: ''Kallantsouge'') is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 18 km south of Den Helder. Callantsoog was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Zijpe. History The village was first mentioned in the late 11th century as Callinge, and means "island of the people of Calle (person)". The oldest settlement had been known to exist in 920, but was lost in the sea in 1170. The second settlement was built on the island 't Oghe and lasted until 1570. Shortly after, the third and current settlement was built further east.
