2013 Soweto Open
The 2013 Soweto Open was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the fourth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2013 ATP Challenger Tour and the 2013 ITF Women's Circuit. It took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 29 April – 5 May 2013 for the men's event and 6–12 May 2013 for the women's event. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. Rik De Voest
Rik de Voest (born 5 June 1980) is a former professional South African tennis player. He achieved his career-high singles ranking of world No. 110 in August 2006. Rik resides in Vancouver, Canada where he pursues a career in real estate. De Voest qualified for the 2007 Wimbledon Championships where he lost to Marat Safin in the first round. He also qualified for the US Open later on in 2007, where he defeated Thierry Ascione 6–2, 3–0 before Ascione retired. De Voest went on to lose to John Isner in the following round. Tadeja Majerič
Tadeja Majerič (born 31 August 1990, in Maribor) is a former tennis player from Slovenia. Majerič has won nine singles and six doubles title on the ITF Women's Circuit. On 25 November 2013, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 111. On 28 January 2013, she peaked at No. 227 in the WTA doubles rankings. Julia Glushko
Julia Glushko (or Yulia, he, יוליה גלושקו; born 1 January 1990) is an Israeli retired tennis player. She won 11 singles and 14 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Her best results at a Grand Slam tournament were reaching the third round of the US Open in 2013, and the French Open in 2014 in singles. James Cluskey
James Cluskey (born 18 August 1986) is a retired Irish professional tennis player, mainly playing doubles. He was born in Dublin, Ireland and attended Belvedere College along with fellow Irish tennis player James McGee. Cluskey was, for some time, the highest ranked Irish doubles player. Cluskey retired from professional tennis in November 2015. Career Early career In 2004, Cluskey won the Irish under-18 singles championship. Mate Pavić (; born 4 July 1993) is a Croatian professional tennis player who is a former world No. 1 in doubles.
