2013 Rome Municipal Election
Municipal elections were held in Rome on 26–27 May and 9–10 June 2013 to elect the Mayor of Rome and 48 members of the City Council, as well as the fifteen presidents and more than 400 councillors of the 15 '' municipi'' in which the municipality is divided. In March 2013 the City Council cut down the number of ''municipi'' of the city from 19 to 15, reorganizing the local administrative areas. Also the number of the members of the City Council was reduced from 60 to 48. The outgoing Mayor Gianni Alemanno (PdL) stood in the election for a second term. The centre-left coalition candidate, heart surgeon Ignazio Marino ( PD), was chosen by a multi-party primary election on 7 April 2013. Percentage Point
A percentage point or percent point is the unit (measurement), unit for the Difference (mathematics), arithmetic difference between two percentages. For example, moving up from 40 percent to 44 percent is an increase of 4 percentage points, but a 10-percent increase in the quantity being measured. In literature, the unit is usually either written out, or abbreviated as ''pp'' or ''p.p.'' to avoid ambiguity. After the first occurrence, some writers abbreviate by using just "point" or "points". Differences between percentages and percentage points Consider the following hypothetical example: In 1980, 50 percent of the population smoked, and in 1990 only 40 percent of the population smoked. Prodi II Cabinet
The second Prodi government was the cabinet of the government of Italy from 17 May 2006 to 8 May 2008, a total of 722 days, or 1 year, 11 months and 21 days. The 59th cabinet of the Italian Republic, it was the only cabinet of the XV Legislature. It was composed of 24 ministers, 10 deputy-ministers and 66 under-secretaries, for a total of 102 members. This was the first government of the Republic in which the Communist Refoundation Party and the Italian Radicals participated directly, and the first government supported by the entire parliamentary left wing since the De Gasperi III Cabinet in 1947. CasaPound
CasaPound Italia (abbr. CPI; "House of Ezra Pound") is an Italian neo-fascist movement and formerly a political party born as a network of far-right social centres arising from the occupation of a state-owned building by squatters in the neighborhood of Esquilino in Rome on 26 December 2003. Subsequently, CasaPound spread with other instances of squatting, demonstrations and various initiatives, becoming a political movement. As such, in June 2008, CasaPound therefore constituted an "association of social promotion", and assumed its current name CasaPound Italia – CPI; the party's symbol is the "Arrowed Turtle". No Euro Movement
The No Euro Movement (''Movimento No Euro'') is a small political party that aims to remove the euro as the Italian currency, returning to the Italian lira, and advocates governmental control of the Italian Central Bank. Renzo Rabellino was elected as secretary of the party on 2 October 2005 held in Milan. No Euro is essentially a party that is against banks, that wants to abolish the seigneurage crime and to bring back to citizens the property of the money, now belonging to central banks that are private. Alfio Marchini (born 1 April 1965) is an Italian entrepreneur and politician. Biography Alfio Marchini is son of Alessandro Marchini, who became rich in the building industry after the Second World War. Sports career Alfio Marchini practiced various sports at a competitive level, including swimming, skiing and played in Roma 5-a-side football, winning two Italian Cups. However, his real passion is polo; he played in the Loro Piana Blue team with which he won the major world tournaments including the Queen's cup and the English and Spanish Open.
