2013 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League
The 2013 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League season, known as the Telikom NSL Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the seventh edition of Papua New Guinea National Soccer League. The title was won by Hekari United, who defeated FC Port Moresby in the Grand Final 3–0 to win their seventh consecutive title. Teams Only four sides returned from the previous season, with Tukoko University, Bulolo United and Petro Souths withdrawing from the competition. Hekari United and Gigira Laitepo Morobe returned for their seventh successive seasons, while Eastern Stars returned for their fifth and Besta PNG United for their fourth. Welgris Highlanders rejoined the league after a three-year absence, while there were debuts for Oro FC, WNB Tavur and FC Port Moresby. Papua New Guinea National Soccer League
The KPHL National Soccer League, also known as the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited National Soccer League for sponsorship reasons, is the men's top division of professional soccer in Papua New Guinea. It is a nationwide league formed in 2006 by Papua New Guinea Football Association. It replaced the Papua New Guinea National Club Championship as the country's major soccer competition. In its 13 seasons, the competition has been won by only two clubs: Hekari United won the first eight editions, while Lae City have won the last six. The two clubs have met in two Grand Finals, in 2015–16 and 2019, with Lae City winning both. Papua New Guinea National Club Championship
The Papua New Guinea National Club Championship is the top amateur division of association football in Papua New Guinea. It is a nationwide league and was probably founded in 1976. The league was the highest level of football administered by the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) until the introduction of the semi-professional National Soccer League in 2006. Thereafter, there were two seasons which ran alongside the semi-professional league, in 2006 and 2008, before the league became defunct after the 2008 edition. In June 2019, the PNGFA announced that the league was to be revived. Welgris Highlanders, formerly known as Welgris Momads, was a semi-professional Papua New Guinean soccer club based in Mount Hagen, but playing their home games in Goroka. They were one of five founding members of the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League, but reached the knockout stages just once in four years of competing. After a three-year hiatus, the side played their final NSL season in 2012–13, where they finished bottom of the league. Oro FC, known for sponsorship reasons as NC Civil Works Oro FC and briefly as Oro Bird Wing FC, is a semi-professional association football club founded in 2013 and hailing from Oro Province, Papua New Guinea, but playing their home games Port Moresby.
