2013 National Invitation Tournament
The 2013 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2013 NCAA tournament. The annual tournament began on March 19 on campus sites and ended on April 4 at Madison Square Garden. Baylor defeated Iowa, 74–54, to capture the Bears its first NIT title in school history. Participants Automatic qualifiers The following teams earned automatic berths into the 2013 NIT field by virtue of winning their conferences' regular season championship, but failing to win their conference tournament. These teams also did not receive an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. At-large bids The following 22 teams were also awarded NIT berths. 2013 WAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2013 WAC men's basketball tournament was the 30th basketball tournament hosted by the WAC and was held March 12–16, 2013 at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada. The winner, New Mexico State University, received an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA tournament. The 2013 Championship game was televised on ESPNU. With the departure of Nevada, and Fresno State to the Mountain West, and Hawaii to the Big West, and the additions of Denver, Seattle, Texas–Arlington, UTSA, and Texas State the WAC held a ten-team tournament for 2013. 2013 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2013 Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament was held on March 6, 9, and 12, 2013. The tournament featured the league's top eight seeds. The tourney opened on Wednesday, March 6 with the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals on Saturday, March 9 and the finals on Tuesday, March 12. LIU Brooklyn won the championship, its fifth, and received the conferences automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA tournament. This is LIU's third NEC tournament championship in a row, having won it the previous two years, they are the first NEC team to three-peat.
