2013 Minnesota Twins Season
The 2013 Minnesota Twins season was the 53rd season for the franchise in Minnesota, and the 113th overall in the American League. The Twins started the 2013 season on April 1, with a game against the Detroit Tigers (losing Opening Day 4-2). The Twins ended their season with a 5–1 loss against the Cleveland Indians. American League Central
The American League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was formed in the realignment of 1994 by moving three teams from the American League West and two teams from the American League East. Its teams are all located in the Midwestern United States. The 2013 Detroit Tigers season was the team's 113th season. They finished 93–69, first place in the American League (AL) Central Division. During the season, the Tigers finished one game ahead of the second place Cleveland Indians. They became the first Tigers team to win three consecutive titles since the 1907, 1908 and 1909 clubs won three consecutive American League pennants. The Tigers defeated the Oakland Athletics in five games in the American League Division Series and advanced to the ALCS for the third straight season, the first time a Major League team has done so since the New York Yankees advanced to four straight from 1998 to 2001. Nick Blackburn
Robert Nicholas Blackburn (born February 24, 1982) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins from 2007 to 2012. Early career Blackburn graduated from Del City High School in Del City, Oklahoma, and attended Seminole State College. The 6–4, 227 pound right-hander was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 34th round (1,006th overall) of the 2000 Major League Baseball draft. The Minnesota Twins then drafted him in the 29th round (857th overall) of the 2001 Major League Baseball draft, and he signed with the team on May 21, 2002. Bryan Christopher Augenstein (born July 11, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals. Early life Augenstein was born in Sebastian, Florida. He graduated from Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, where he played for the Sebastian River Sharks high school baseball team. Andrew Edward Butera (; born August 9, 1983) is an American former professional baseball catcher who is currently on the coaching staff of the Los Angeles Angels. Brian Matthew Duensing (born February 22, 1983) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, and Chicago Cubs. Amateur career High school Duensing went to Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska, where he earned second-team All-State honors in both his junior and senior years.
