2013 Memorial Cup
The 2013 Memorial Cup was a four-team, round-robin format ice hockey tournament played from May 17–26, 2013. It was the 95th Memorial Cup championship and determined the champion of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). The tournament featured the London Knights, champions of the Ontario Hockey League, the Halifax Mooseheads, champions of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Portland Winterhawks, champions of the Western Hockey League, and the Saskatoon Blades, who won the right to host the tournament over bids by the Kelowna Rockets and the Red Deer Rebels. This was the first Memorial Cup to be held in Saskatoon since the Blades hosted it in 1989. The Halifax Mooseheads won the Memorial Cup for the first time in franchise history, beating the Portland Winterhawks 6–4 in the final. The Halifax Mooseheads joined the Saint John Sea Dogs in 2011, and the Shawinigan Cataractes in 2012, as the third straight team from the QMJHL to capture the trophy. Credit Union Centre
SaskTel Centre (formerly Credit Union Centre, and originally Saskatchewan Place; informally also known as ''Sask Place'') is an arena located in the Agriplace Industrial Park, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. With 15,195 permanent stadium seats, and situated near the city's northern entrance, the facility opened in February 1988 with a seating capacity of around 7,800. It was expanded to 11,330 for the World Junior Hockey Championships in 1990. Additional permanent seating was added in 2008 and 2009. The current capacity is 15,190 for hockey. Kelowna Rockets
The Kelowna Rockets are a major junior ice hockey team based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The Rockets play in the Western Hockey League (WHL), out of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). They play their home games at Prospera Place. The Rockets have won the WHL championship four times and have made it to the Memorial Cup finals three times, winning once. The Rockets captured the Memorial Cup for the first time in franchise history in 2004, the same year they were selected to host the event. The Rockets returned to the Memorial Cup finals in both 2009 and 2015, losing to the Windsor Spitfires in 2009 and the Oshawa Generals in 2015. Jonathan Drouin
Jonathan Drouin (born March 28, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). After a stellar 2012–13 season with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)'s Halifax Mooseheads, in which he was named CHL Player of the Year and won the Memorial Cup, Drouin was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, third overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. On June 15, 2017, Drouin was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. Playing career As a youth, Drouin played in the 2008 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Northern Selects minor ice hockey team. Ty Rattie
Ty Rattie (born February 5, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing for Linköping HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career In June 2011, the St. Louis Blues made Rattie their first draft pick and the 32nd overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He was ranked 17th among draft eligible prospects by Central Scouting. Blues' scouting director Bill Armstrong stated that he was "someone that we liked because of his high skill level. Obviously, he's got some work to do as far as his strength, but he has been able to put up points his whole life at every level." Rattie was the first draft pick Armstrong made as the Blues' scouting director. Rattie was raised in Airdrie, Alberta. The Portland Winterhawks are a junior ice hockey team based in Portland, Oregon, playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL), one of three leagues making up the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Prior to the 2021-22 season, the Winterhawks split their home games between the Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the Moda Center, which they shared with the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
