2013 MLS SuperDraft
The 2013 MLS SuperDraft was the fourteenth SuperDraft presented by Major League Soccer. The draft took place on January 17, 2013 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Indiana Convention Center. The Colorado Rapids enjoyed returns from the 2013 draft, with its two first-round draft picks Dillon Powers and Deshorn Brown finishing first and second respectively in 2013 rookie of the year voting. The 2013 season also showed the ability of MLS teams to develop young talent without turning to the draft, as homegrown players DeAndre Yedlin and Gyasi Zardes finished third and fourth respectively in rookie of the year voting. Miloš Kocić
Miloš Kocić ( sr-Cyrl, Милош Koцић; born June 4, 1985) is a Serbian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Youth and college Kocić was born in Yugoslavia prior to the country's breakup. He began playing soccer in the Serbian League East, and was part of the youth system of his home town team Dubočica Leskovac before coming to the United States in 2005. He played college soccer at St. John's University and at Loyola College in Maryland alongside compatriot Rade Koković. Kocić red-shirted during his first year in the US at St. John's before transferring to Loyola. Ryan Johnson (soccer)
Ryan Johnson (born 26 November 1984) is a Jamaican former professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Youth and college Johnson was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the Boston area with his family while he was still an infant. He played high school soccer and basketball at Melrose High School in Massachusetts, where he was a Middlesex League and Eastern Mass League soccer all-star. He attended Oregon State University on a sports scholarship and played college soccer there from 2002 to 2005, where he scored 18 goals and assisted on 30 while appearing in 76 matches. The Portland Timbers are an American professional men's soccer club based in Portland, Oregon. The Timbers compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league's Western Conference. Joseph T. Bendik (born April 25, 1989) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. Club career Clemson Bendik grew up in Marietta, Georgia and attended Clemson University for four years after graduating from Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia. Sogndal After university, Bendik signed with Norwegian club Sogndal. He began the 2010 season as a backup, and made his professional debut in the first round of the Norwegian Cup against Årdal FK. Connecticut Huskies Men's Soccer
The UConn Huskies men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of Connecticut. The team is a member of the Big East Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). History Connecticut soccer existed prior to 1969, but was not considered a major sport and did not even have a real stadium. However, in 1969, Joe Morrone was hired as head coach, and made significant changes that would make the Huskies a premiere program. He started by building Connecticut Soccer Stadium, which now bears his name as Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. Eventually, in Morrone's words, the team became "the Notre Dame of college soccer". Morrone would ultimately coach the team until he retired in 1994. Carlos Alvarez (born November 12, 1990) is an American soccer coach and former professional player who played as a midfielder. As of 2022, he works as a youth coach for San Diego Surf SC. Chivas USA (pronounced ''CHEE-vahs'') was an American professional soccer team based in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson, California. The club played from 2005 to 2014 in Major League Soccer (MLS) and was a subsidiary of Mexican club C.D. Guadalajara, sharing common ownership and branding. The club was the eleventh MLS team upon its entry into the league in 2004. Chivas USA was intended to be seen as a "little brother" to its parent club C.D. Derby City Rovers were an American semi-professional soccer team based in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. Derby City was also known for their elite-level youth teams that played in local, state, regional and national leagues. Founded in 2010 as the ''River City Rovers'', the team played in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The Louisville Cardinals men's soccer team represents the University of Louisville in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. The team presently competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team currently plays in the soccer-specific Lynn Stadium on the campus.
