2013 Louis Vuitton Cup
The 8th Louis Vuitton Cup was held during July and August 2013, in San Francisco, California, United States of America. The three contenders were Artemis Racing (Sweden), Emirates Team New Zealand (New Zealand), and Luna Rossa Challenge (Italy). After a preliminary round robin to determine seeding, Artemis Racing was eliminated in the semi-final round by Luna Rossa Challenge by four races to none. In the final, Emirates Team New Zealand beat Luna Rossa Challenge by seven races to one, and went on to challenge Oracle Team USA for the 2013 America's Cup. The teams Twelve yacht clubs applied to challenge the America's Cup before the deadline, though their names were not originally disclosed. America's Cup
The America's Cup, informally known as the Auld Mug, is a trophy awarded in the sport of sailing. It is the oldest international competition still operating in any sport. America's Cup match races are held between two sailing yachts: one from the yacht club that currently holds the trophy (known as the defender) and the other from the yacht club that is challenging for the cup (the challenger). Matches are held several years apart on dates agreed between the defender and the challenger. There is no fixed schedule, but the races have generally been held every three to four years. The most recent America's Cup match took place in March 2021. The cup was originally known as the 'R.Y.S. £100 Cup', awarded in 1851 by the British Royal Yacht Squadron for a race around the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom. Iain Jensen
Iain Valjean Jensen (born 23 May 1988 in Belmont, New South Wales) is an Australian sailor. He started sailing in his hometown of Wangi Wangi when he was five years old, with his Olympic and Artemis Racing teammate Nathan Outteridge. With Outteridge, he won the 2009 and 2011 49er World Championships and gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 49ers class. The team also won silver at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He is a member of the NSW Institute of Sport in Sydney and a wing trimmer for Artemis Racing. He lives in Lake Macquarie. Kevin Hall (sailor)
Kevin A. Hall (born in Germany) is a sailor who has represented the United States of America at the Summer Olympics and has competed in multiple America's Cup races. Personal life Hall graduated from Brown University with degrees in mathematics and French literature. He was also made a member of the Brown Athletic Hall of Fame. He battled testicular cancer when he was 19 and again when he was 22, resulting in the removal of his testicles. He was labeled manic depressive in 1989. He no longer identifies with the label. Thierry Fouchier (born 14 March 1966) is a French sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cups. From Marseille, Fouchier sailed with Le Defi at the 2000 Louis Vuitton Cup and with Victory Challenge at the 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup. Paul Cayard
Paul Pierre Cayard (born May 19, 1959) is an American yachtsman and professional sailor. He has competed at multiple world championship level sailing events, including the America's Cup, the Whitbread Round the World Race, the Volvo Ocean Race and the Olympic Games. In 1998 he was selected as the US Rolex Yachtsmen of the Year. He has won seven world championships, twice participated in the Olympic Games and seven times in the America's Cup.
