The 2013 Korea Grand Prix Gold was the fifteenth badminton tournament of the 2013 BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix. The tournament was held in Jeonju Indoor Badminton Court, Jeonju, South Korea November 5–10, 2013 and had a total purse of $120,000. Jeonju
Jeonju () is the 16th largest city in South Korea and the capital of North Jeolla Province. It is both urban and rural due to the closeness of Wanju County which almost entirely surrounds Jeonju (Wanju County has many residents who work in Jeonju). Hong Ji-hoon (Hangul: 홍지훈), born 27 October 1988) is a South Korean badminton player. Career In 2006, he won a gold medal at the BWF World Junior Championships in the boys' singles event. He defeated Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia with the score 21–13, 10–21, and 21–16. He became a semi-finalist of the Vietnam Open tournament in the men's doubles event. He and partner Choi Ho-jin were defeated by their teammates Yoo Yeon-seong and Jeon Jun-bum with the score 21–16, 21–19. Park Sung-min (Hangul: 박성민; born 12 May 1990) is a South Korean badminton player. Park started playing badminton in 1999, and as a junior player he was the runner-up of the 2007 German Junior International tournament. He was a part of the Korean junior team who win the mixed team silver medal at the 2007 and 2008 World Junior Championships. At the 2008 Asian Junior Championships, he won the silver medals in the boys' singles and mixed team event. Xue Song (badminton)
Xue Song (; born 22 January 1994) is a Chinese badminton player who specializes in men's singles. Career In 2002, Xue was sent to train at the badminton school in Jiangsu, and at aged 13, he won the national junior title in singles and doubles event. At the age of 15, he trained in Hong Kong for two years, then he joined the badminton club in Guangdong. In 2011, he was selected to join the national team. He first attracted international attention when he defeated 2010 champion Viktor Axelsen at the 2012 World Junior Championships and went on to reach the final, where he lost to Kento Momota. He started his senior career at the 2013 Australian Open, and at that tournament, he beat a former world No. 1 Taufik Hidayat, and also a Vietnamese senior player Nguyễn Tiến Minh. Shon Wan-ho
Son Wan-ho (Hangul: 손완호; or ; born 17 May 1988) is a South Korean badminton player. He reached a career high as world number 1 in the men's singles in May 2017. He competed at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. He plays primarily defensively, and began playing badminton after a teacher suggested it to him in elementary school. He holds a bachelor's degree from Inha University in Incheon, South Korea. In 2017, he helped the Korean national team reach the final at the Sudirman Cup and won that tournament. Simon Santoso
Simon Santoso (born 29 July 1985) is an Indonesian former badminton player. He was two-time Southeast Asian Games men's singles champion winning in 2009 and 2011, also featured in Indonesia team that won the men's team title in 2003, 2007, 2009, and 2011. Santoso won the Indonesia Open a Superseries Premier tournament in 2012. He reached a career high as world number 3 in August 2010. Tian Houwei (; born 11 January 1992) is a badminton player from China. He was the 2009 World and Asian Junior Champions in the boys' singles event. Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin
Iskandar Zulkarnain bin Zainuddin (born 24 May 1991) is a Malaysian badminton player and coach. He represented Malaysia as the third singles in the 2018 Thomas Cup and helped Malaysia qualify for the quarter finals. Iskandar was appointed as part of the Irish badminton coaching staff in 2021. Petr Koukal (badminton)
Petr Koukal (; born 14 December 1985) is a Czech professional badminton player. Biography Koukal started playing badminton in 1993, at a club owned by his father in Hořovice, and made his debut in the international tournament in 2000. In 2003 he was selected to join the national team, and at the same year, he won the mixed doubles title at the national championships partnered with Markéta Koudelková. Until 2016, he has collected 9 national titles, where 8 of them won in the men's singles event. Koukal first competed at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. In 2010, Koukal was diagnosed with testicular cancer and underwent a successful therapy. He was awarded 2011 Fair Play Award, in Brno, Czech Republic.
