2013 King Cup Of Champions
The 2013 King Cup of Champions, or The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, was the 38th season of King Cup of Champions since its establishment in 1957, and the 6th under the current edition. The top eight in the Professional League competed in the King cup which kicked off on 4 May. Al-Ahli were the defending champion but they were eliminated by Al-Shabab in semifinals. Al-Ittihad won their eighth title after beating Al-Shabab 4–2 in the final, and qualified to the Champions League. Prize money * Final winner: 4,000,000 Saudi Riyals. * Final runners-up: 2,500,000 Saudi Riyals. * Third place: 1,500,000 Saudi Riyals. The King Cup (sometimes spelled King's), officially known as The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Cup ( ar, كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين), is the Saudi Arabian football knockout cup competition, run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The cup was created in 1957 and was played until 1990. It was re-launched again in 2007 as ''King's Cup of Champions'', and was played by only the top 6 finishers of the Professional League plus the Crown Prince Cup and Federation Cup winners. Since 2014, it was renamed as ''King's Cup'', the competition returned to its roots by implementing the old format. 153 clubs have taken part in the tournament. Al Raed Saudi Football Club ( ''Nādī ar-Rāʾid'', "Pioneer Club") is a Saudi football club based in Buraidah, and the first of its kind in the Qassim region of Saudi Arabia. One of the club's notable founders is Abdulaziz Al-Aboudi. Established in 1954, Al Raed have played in the Saudi Pro League, the top division of Saudi football, since 2008. The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, previously known as the Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Stadium, is a football stadium in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. Al-Hofuf ( ar, ٱلْهُفُوف ', also spelled Hofuf or Hufuf, also known as "Al-Hasa", "Al-Ahsa" or "Al-Hassa") is the major urban city in the Al-Ahsa Oasis in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, with a population of 858,395 (as of 2021). Yousef Al-Salem ( ar, يوسف السالم, born 4 May 1985) is a Saudi Arabian professional footballer who currently plays for Al-Jubail as a striker. Career Al-Salem began his career at Al-Qadsiah and made his debut during the 2004–05 season. Following the club's relegation to the First Division in 2008, Al-Salem joined Al-Shabab. Hamad Al-Hamad ( ar, حمد الحمد; born 26 August 1987) is a Saudi Arabian professional footballer who currently plays as a winger for Al-Jubail. He is a former Saudi Arabia international having made his debut in 2012. Career Al-Hamad began his career at Ettifaq and made his debut in the 2008–09 season.
