2013 Indy Lights Season
The 2013 Indy Lights season was a season of open wheel motor racing. It was the 28th season of the series and the twelfth sanctioned by IndyCar, acting as the primary support series for the IZOD IndyCar Series. It began March 24, 2013 in St. Petersburg. Rookie Sage Karam won the championship, the eighth rookie to win the series title. Karam clinched the championship in the final race over rookie teammate Gabby Chaves. Second-year driver Carlos Muñoz won a series-high four races but was forced to settle for third in the championship. Peter Dempsey captured the Freedom 100 in a spectacular four-wide finish in what was the closest finish in Indianapolis Motor Speedway history. In June, it was announced that the series would be promoted by Andersen Promotions beginning in 2014. INDYCAR sanctioning will remain. Indy Lights
Indy NXT, previously Indy Lights, is an American developmental automobile racing series sanctioned by IndyCar, currently known as Firestone Indy NXT Series for sponsorship reasons. Indy Lights is the highest step on the Road to Indy, a program of racing series leading up to the IndyCar Series. The Indy Lights series has been promoted by Anderson Promotions since 2014, which also manages the Road to Indy program. A similar series named Indy Lights filled the developmental role for the CART series, and ran from 1986 to 1993 as the American Racing Series and Dayton Indy Lights from 1991 to 2001. The current IndyCar sanctioned series was founded in 2002 as the Infiniti Pro Series as a way to introduce new talent to IndyCar, with the moniker Indy Lights returning in 2008 when CART and IndyCar unified. Freedom 100
The Freedom 100 was an automobile race held annually at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, as part of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires. The event was a support race for the IndyCar Series Indianapolis 500, and since 2005, it was held on the Friday preceding the Indianapolis 500, the day known as " Carb Day". The Freedom 100 was the second race annually at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the other being the Grand Prix on the combined road course. Race history The Freedom 100 has its origins in both USAC's Mini Indy series and CART's ARS/Indy Lights series. None of those support series ever raced at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Conor Daly
Conor J. Daly (born December 15, 1991) is an American professional racing driver who competes in the NTT IndyCar Series, driving the No. 20 Chevrolet for Ed Carpenter Racing, and part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 50 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for The Money Team Racing. He has also raced in the GP2 Series, Road to Indy, NASCAR Truck Series, and the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the past. Jimmy Simpson (racing Driver)
James Simpson (born September 13, 1992) is an American racing driver from Indianapolis. Racing career Simpson began racing with a successful career in karting, including two Kart Racers of America Junior Yamaha championships in 2007. While at Purdue University, Simpson won the Purdue Grand Prix and became the only driver to do so for four years in a row. Simpson won between 2013-2016. Simpson continued his success in karting with a win in 2014, and two runner-up finishes (2008 and 2012), in the Robo-Pong 200 endurance race at New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana, one of karting's most high-profile events. Mikaël Grenier
Mikaël Grenier (born October 17, 1992) is a Canadian racing driver from Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury. Career After karting, Grenier moved to Formula BMW Americas in 2008 with Apex-HBR Racing Team, finishing fourth in points with a pole at Road America and six podium finishes. In 2009 he made six starts in Star Mazda for Andersen Racing, good enough for 18th in points. In 2010 he drove the full Star Mazda schedule for Andersen and finished eighth in points, finishing second from the pole at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis and winning from the pole in race one at Autobahn Country Club. Victor Carbone
Victor Carbone (born September 13, 1992) is a Brazilian racing driver from São Paulo. After karting, Carbone participated in the Skip Barber National Championship in 2008 and finished 15th. In 2009 he drove in the F2000 Championship Series for Alegra Motorsports and finished 10th in points. Carbone returned to the team and series in 2010 and won the title, winning 6 of the 14 races. Ethan R. Ringel (born August 12, 1994 in Windermere, Florida, United States) is an American racing driver. He competed in the 2012 GP3 Series season for Atech CRS Grand Prix. Ringel is coached by Indy Car driver Jay Howard. Career Ringel's kart racing career began in 2008, when he took part in the Rotax Max Challenge USA Junior Max Grand Nationals Presented by Mazda, finishing 29th in only his second karting race . Juan Pablo García (born October 4, 1987) is a Mexican racing driver. Racing career Early career Garcia began his professional career in Formula Renault 2000 de America in 2006. Team Moore Racing
Team Moore Racing was an auto racing team that competed in the Firestone Indy Lights series. It was owned by former racer Tom Wood and Mark Moore and is based in Pittsboro, Indiana. The team was formed in 2007 with Wood driving. However, after the first race of the season Wood retired and Jonathan Klein took over driving duties for the rest of the season (with Travis Gregg filing in for Klein due to injury for one race). Klein finished 12th in points, driving in 14 of the 16 races. In 2008 the team returned initially with IndyCar veteran Jeff Simmons in its primary car. Kyle O'Gara (born February 23, 1995 in Beech Grove, Indiana) is an American racing driver. Career O'Gara competed in the USAC National Midget Series in 2011 and 2012. He finished fourth at the USAC Pavement Midget Series in 2013, and he claimed the title in 2014. On October 18, 2012 he completed his Indy Lights rookie test at Kentucky Speedway with Fan Force United.
