2013 Gibraltar V Slovakia Football Match
The international friendly between the Gibraltar and Slovakia national football teams on 19 November 2013 was the first official match played by Gibraltar after joining the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It took place at the Estádio Algarve in Faro/Loulé, Portugal with 350 fans in attendance. The Gibraltar Football Association chose to play at the Estádio Algarve as this would be the stadium the team would use for competitive matches as their only venue the Victoria Stadium was not eligible to. The game ended in a 0–0 draw which was seen as an upset with Slovakia being heavy favourites to defeat UEFA's newest members. Michal Hipp
Michal Hipp (born 13 March 1963) is a Slovak football manager and a former player. Playing career Hipp began his football career in his native village Horná Kráľová. When he was twelve years old, he started playing in the youth team and then progressed to the first team when he was sixteen. In 1983 Hipp got an offer to transfer to Slovan Duslo Šaľa by coach Jozef Adamec. There he played as a right midfielder. Then he left for MŠK Hurbanovo as he completed compulsory military service in the town. In October 1984 he went to Plastika Nitra. Stanislav Griga
Stanislav Griga (born 4 November 1961) is a Slovak football manager and former player. He played 34 matches for Czechoslovakia and scored eight goals. Career Griga was a participant in the 1990 FIFA World Cup, and had a headed goal controversially disallowed for offside in a first-round game against Italy at Stadio Olimpico. Griga joined Sparta Prague as manager in October 2005. He stayed at Sparta until August 2006, finishing with a record of 12 wins, 7 draws and 8 losses in his 27 games in charge. On 26 April 2012, Griga was named as joint coach of the Slovakia national team with Michal Hipp, who has served as interim coach since January. Ján Ďurica (born 10 December 1981) is a Slovak former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He worked as assistant manager of FC Petržalka. Club career Ďurica moved to FC Saturn Moscow Oblast after a highly successful UEFA Champions League campaign with FC Artmedia Bratislava. Martin Büchel (born 19 February 1987 in Ruggell) is a Liechtenstein footballer, who currently plays for FC Ruggell in Liechtenstein and formerly played for the Liechtenstein national football team. Career Büchel began his career in his hometown for FC Ruggell and signed after nine years in the youth side with his club for local rival FC Vaduz. The 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification was a series of tournaments organised by the six FIFA#Structure, FIFA confederations.
